1999 expedition A/C Low pressure

I know where the hook up is. I have the hose for the charge. I turn on the system to max air.
When I hook up the connection on the evaporator (location of low side charge) My gauge shoots up to full over full. It will not **** in the r134.
Why is the pressure so high. My vehicle blows semi cold. Do I have to disconnect the wire harness on top of the actuator as well?

The pressure being high is usually caused by a blockage in one of the lines usually around the orifice tube. You need to have the system evacuated and flushed out for trash. It would not hurt to put in a new orifice tube. Recharge the system and it should work like it did before if everthing else is in good shape.

There are always TWO connection points to an AC system. The large tubing is the input. The smaller tubing is the output. You MUST hook up the freon can to the large tubing input. You still have to run the AC on high, and wait about 20 minutes, with the freon can in a bowl of warm water to stop it from icing up. It will get very cold.
Watch the sight glass on the reciever/dryer canister, is there is one. When the bubbles are gone, it is time to stop.

Air conditioning stopped working step for trouble

There are several ideas on test gauges for A/C pressure. You need to find out if you have any Freon pressure in your system. Low pressure will activate a cut-off switch to protect the compressor from seizing.

If you look at the passengers side of the Firewall, under the wiring bundle attached to the Firewall, the low pressure fitting is on the black oblong tank. The pressure cut-off switch is on a A/C line leaving this tank.

You can by-pass the cut-off switch with a wire loop to see if the compressor engages and what the running pressure is for the system. You can work with low pressure better than some other problems.

There are Freon cans with sealant and conditioner which can fix minor problems. Once you get enough pressure to deactivate the cut-off switch the Freon should be pulled into the system.

Have windows open, A/C on Max, and then use the gauge to keep from overfilling the system.

How to add refrigerant to air conditioning system

determine the type of refrigerant, conversion kits are available but not an easy job, most parts stores have refrigerant and connectors to add to your system, follow the directions on the can.

Where is the low side for the a/c on the ford expedition(1999)am trying to recharge my a/c.

The low pressure port is on the evaporator canaster on the Passenger side firewall behind the battery. Start the engine, turn on A/C, connect charge hose to port and pierce can of refrigerant and back the valve out to let refrigerant into the cooling system. It will probably take a few cans if it has rear A/C. Make sure you dont overpressurize the system, Use a guage with a safe zone meter to monitor the line pressure. Make sure the A/C clutch is kicking in or the system wont take the refrigerant. I hope this helps a little.

The air conditioner of my 1999 Dodge Ram 3500 1 ton Van is not cool enough. Some say I have to change the filter. Can you tell me where it is and how to replace it?

There is no filter. You need to charge the system. Buy a can of R-134 and a charging hose from auto parts store and follow directions on the can/hose. The hose connects to the low pressure side of the system (returning from the radiator area via quick disconnect fitting. Install the can to the other end of the hose and close valve fully to puncture can. Then open fully and start car. Set A/C system to max and let the can flow into the system. Shake can frequently and tilt occasionally until empty. Shut off engine and remove hose.

Low pressure hose cooling system

on my 2000 expedition it is located on top of the compressor. The compressor is barrel shapped and silver and has a belt attached to it. There are 2 ports on the air compressor, one low and one high. When charging your air conditioner the gauge will only attach to the low pressure.

How do youo put freon in 99 ford expedition

Find your evaporator canister which will be toward the firewall. The low port is hard to see. You will need to buy yourself a re-fill kit which comes with the freon and gauge. Warm the engine and turn air cond. on. Attach the hose to your low port. Attach the can to the hose and turn the needle to pierce the top of the can. Be sure to turn the valve needle slowly to release the freon into the system. If the can starts to frost over, wrap a warm cloth around can to get the freon to flow easier. The kit will come with a gauge which will tell you if the system is already overcharged with problems or if the system needs freon. The one I have has yellow, blue, green, and red. The yellow is low, blue is good but the system could still use more depending on the psi, green is overcharged, and red is over charged with system problems, or other system problem.

Where does the freon go for a 99 expedition

Hi .. I just ran into the same problem .. I have a 2000 Expedition with the 5.4L engine .. the low side port is located on the passenger side of engine compartment just below the black metal bracket that contains electrical connections right in front of the firewall... you have to reach under this and locate the low side (larger line) and feel for the connection .. it is right in front of the accumulator .. There are two heater hose that hide the port .. you have reach under these to unscrew the port cap which is black .. you'll have to do this by feel .. I have found that you can by R134A charge with dye and leak sealant helps with small leaks .. if the system takes more than two cans be usre to add refrig. oil .. hope this helps

Trying to add freon to my 99 gmc sierra, as i add freon i hear the compressor start to come on but turns off after a few seconds, still dosnt get cold

The compressor cutting and out is a good sign that the system is trying to work. Usually when the compressor cuts in and out after a few seconds, it means that the system is not fully charged and more refrigerant is needed. It's a good idea to purchase a gauge that measures the amount of charge in the system. The gauge looks like an air gauge, and they are not very expensive. That way you will know how much more of a charge the system needs. The gauge hooks up to the low pressure valve, just as the charge hose does.

How to recharge a.c. unit 99 kia sephia

Yes you can recharge it yourself. You have to charge on the low pressure side. Your filler hose will only fit the low pressure side. Follow your hoses until you see a cap (usually blue on the low pressure side) and that will be your charge point.

I hope this helps you, and I wish you luck on your repair.
