Question about 2006 Ford Fusion

1 Answer

No power when pushing down on accelerator

I have a 2006 Ford Fusion. The battery went dead on it, I had itjumped 2 times before I put a nw battery in it. Now I can start it and it idles great, but everytime I put the gas on nothing happens, no power at all and no increase in power. Seems like the engine is not getting any gas to it. Could I have bumped something to cause this to happen when I put the new battery in, or could I have shorted out some electrical component when I had it jumped.

Hi Guys, I took the battery out and waited about 25 minutes before putting in another battery. I did that thumb thing and said it didn't work. I disconnected the battery overnite and that did the trick. As I went to the lock 1 position I could hear it resetting everything in the vehicle. Thank you for the help, I appreciate it. You guys are the greatest.

The car may be in whats called " limp" mode. After the car is cooled off and you have un hooked the battery for about 10 mins , the car should be reset so to speak.

My 2006 Ford Fusion has issues. When driving, if you take your foot off the accelerator, it jerks so bad and slows down...I mean JERKS... as it slows down, then when you want to accelerate again, it sticks...

Most likely issue is your accelerator position sensor. Recommed you remove it and test with an ohmmeter. I don't have the pinout, but there are only four pins. Find the two pins that have a change in resistance when the arm is rotated. The resistance should change smoothly as you rotate the arm. If it jumps around, replace it. Cost is about $75.

How to overide limp mode in 2006 ford fusion

put the key in the ignition, and turn it so the lights and everything come on, do not start the engine, then pump the brakes 3 times, turn it off, and then start the engine. This worked for my 2008 for fusion. (if the brakes don't work, try the gas 3 times make sure the engine is off and the car is in park)
Best of luck!

My battery went dead on my ford fusion 2008 now my radio doesn't work

As with many newr cars, Your radio probably had a security code which is required to reset it after the radio is removed or power was disconnected from it. You probably have the code written somewhere in your new car paperwork. If not, contact your dealer. They can probably guide you through resetting the code.

I had to replace the battery on my 2006 4 cylinder. After I replaced it and I cranked it it began idling too low. It idles at about 500 and then to 750 when I push on the accelerator. If I push too hard on...

Although there isn't a good excuse in a late model car to lose its ECU settings during a battery replacement, this may be what has happened.
I would give it a few days (or ignition cycles) to allow it to recover and have the ECU scanned (free) at an auto parts chain store, before going to a pro.

Been told the regulator in the driver's door electric window has failed but want to check that this is correct - - live in Dunfermline

I have a 2006 Fusion and the window was not properly working, was told it was the regulator. They replaced it and the problem went away. Later the had to do the same to the driver window. 2 down 2 to go!!
