Question about 1997 Nissan Maxima

Are Nissan RED battery cables interchangeable between models?

Can you use the RED battery cable off a 1995 Nissan 200sx on a 1997 Nissan Maxima? I think the Maximas is faulty...and they look the same, kinda. I have a 200sx that isn't being driven and needs ANOTHER catalytic converter to pass smog here in CA...my son's friend has a 1997 Maxima that has intermittent starting/electrical problems, battery good (new), alternator tested okay, starts fine if jumped. Noticed on one of the jumps that when the dual wire was clamped with the jump cable (and not connected to the other battery) it all of sudden juiced up. Unclamped it and nada...no buzzing alarm, no lights, no hazzards. BUT that clamp has to be on just right or nothing happens??? I want to take the cable out of my Nissan and try it on her nissan to see if that corrects the problem. Are they compatable??

I have a 1997 nissan maxima and when its cold outside it won't start it won't do anything. its like there is a problem with the ignition after the sun shines on the car an warms up outside...

Try to clean all cables to battery and starter. A bit of oxidation may be causing the problem, or your battery has a bad cell and is about to go. Especially if the battery is over 5 years old.

How do i reinstall a computer on a 1997 nissan maxima?

Hello,
The first thing you always do is disconnect the negative battery cable. Now locate the ECM or computer. It should be right beside the accelerator pedal on that model. There is usually an access panel there that covers it unless soneone has removed it and discarded it. there is one plastic screw holding the panel on but it also hooks on the right side as well. remove the EMC mounting screws and pull the unit out. Now remove the multi wired plug from the rear of the ECM and install your new ECM. Reinstall into the mounting and replace the cover. Reconnect the negative battery cable. now the car should start and run normally if there are no other problems. Thank you for asking at Fixya.com

My 1991 Nissan Maxima won't start. When I depress

Probably a bad starter or battery. Is battery old? Any corrosion?

Tap on the starter - then try and start the car. To find the starter follow the big cable from the positive/red terminal on your battery to the starter.

What kind of trannys interchange with a nissan maxima with a v6 3000 engine

there is no interchangable trans for your model year maxima. you can install only maxima trans build in your model years. I think that was 1991-1994. also the engine configuration has to be the same as yours. nissan made your model maxima with 2 different engines. one model had VG30 engine and the other had VE30. two different engine models. you need to match it with yours.

My car wouldnt crank this morning but the lights and everything still came on. like it wouldnt even turn over.

Check the battery cables, when you turned key to crank position did the lights go out? If yes, definately battery cables if no load test battery with a battery tester to see if it is any good.

96 Nissan Maxima. Has new starter. Wouldn't

Did you have the new starter tested befor you installed it? Was their a lot of corosion on the battery cables? The cables might be corroded as well cousing too much resistance for the starter to crank.
