Behind the crank is a clip that looks like this:

There is a special tool to remove these. If you do not have one, you have two easy options.
If you can push the panel back far enough to see which end is which, you can get behind the loop end with a 90 degree pick and pull the clip out.
Otherwise you can take a small shoprag and slide it under the crank and work it back and worth around it, applying pressure towards the crank until it hangs up on the pointed ends and it will push the clip off.

The manual crank has a u shaped clip that holds it in place to the crank pulley. U may need a special tool to open the clip and slide it off so you can remove the handle.

Can I get a manual window door from the salvage yard and replace the power windor door on my 1988 chevy c1500 that doesnt work?

Yes, you can get a Manuel operated window and install it in your present door you just have to disconnect and remove the present window motor and the elec. You may have to change the door pad as well so you have a hole in the panel for the manual crank for the window.

Hello. Yes, it is behind the washer. You need a thin hooked tool to remove it. Pull out on the handle, and press in on the door panel to see it.

Need to remove door panel to repair window that is off track

There is a spring clip that holds your window crank on. Your best bet is to get a window crank remover. You can get one at most automotive parts stores. They're only a couple of bucks. You shove it in behind the crank, and then turn the crank, and it'll pop the clip off. When you re-install it, put the clip on the handle, line it up where you want it to be when the window is closed, and give it a bang with your hand. It should pop back on.
The arm rest will most likely be held with a couple of large philip's head screws. They are usually on the bottom side of the arm rest, sometimes the top, sometimes hidden by nylon plugs. Some vehicles only have one screw, and then you slide the arm rest forward to remove it.
I'm sure you'll figure it out once you start looking. Good luck!

'88 toyota camry rear window stuck in down position

To get to the Window:

Remove Door Inside Handle:
remove screw, slide the handle forward.
Disconnect the control link and remove the handle.

Remove Door Trim with Inner WeatherStrip:
Remove the two screws from the armrest.
Insert a screwdriver between the trim retainers and the door panel to pry it loose.  Eight hidden fasteners. 1 top left side of door.
1 right side about same height as top of armrest. 1 (each side) about same height as bottom of armrest. 1 on each corner bottom. 1 bottom in middle.  1 on left side between bottom corner and the previous at about lower armrest height...

Remove Service Hole cover.
Remove Door Glass Run.

Remove Division Bar (upper window section divider):
Remove the two screws under the weatherstrip
Remove the bolt.
Pull out the division bar.

Remove the Window Glass:
Place the glass in the door cavity.
Remove the two glass channel mounting bolts.
Remove the window glass by pulling it upwards.

You now have access to the Power Window Regulator; possible replacement of motor etc.

What type of 'things' have you tried for fixing the window and restoring operation?

88 toyota p/u window arm removal

remove the window by un-doing the two bolts at bottom, then undo bolts that secure window mechanism to door. I think you will find that it is not the gear that is stripped. The shaft that supports the gearruns in a pressed steel bush, this is what will have worn. I just cleaned away the sahrds and tacked on a nut of the right size to act as a replacement bush.

How do you take off the window crank of my 1988 Cutlass Calais

pull out on the crank as the window is rolled up, look all the way around the crank right behind where the crank meets the door. There should be a small silver clip that you can pop out with a screwdriver.
