2001 s80....when taking your foot off the accelerator at low speeds, the car will shut down

    no...it happens when I am at a stop or at low speeds.. if I do not keep my foot on the accelerator pushing the rpm's above 1000, then the car's rpm's will eventually sink to 0..

Have your idle air control valve checked. It seems as it is not allowing enough air thru when at low speeds or idle which is why your engine is stalling. Check your throttle position sensor as well. IF those are ok, have your throttle body and plate cleaned out with a carbeutor spray cleaner

Spark Plugs every 3 years or 30 to 40,000 miles

You may have ignition coils failing

Clean MAF Sensor

Replace any O2 Sensors over 100,000 miles

Could be ignition coils failing or injectors. Don't know the mileage on your car, but could be worn out engine too. Change your oil often?

It sounds like a malfunctioning caliper. Look through your wheels and see if the rotors are bluing (excessive heating).

The best solution is to do a complete tune up with new spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, pcv valve and oil change.. If this still happen I would get some fuel injector cleaner, or use marvel mystery oil in both your oil(crankcase) and gas tank. You can get mystery oil at walmart..its in a red bottle with black label.
