I suggest visiting the autozone.com website and registering the vehicle information. It's free and will give you access to an online repair manual for the vehicle. The steps for replacing the fuel pump should be available there. It's a handy resource. Hope this helped and best wishes.

How to replace fuel pump on 1998 ford expedition

Drop the fuel tank. This is not easy to do. There are a lot of connections that have to be delt unhooked and there is a risk of fire or explosion. The tank should be as close to empty as you can get it. Then you have to take the gas tank access cover off and put in the new pump.

My 1998 ford expedition acts like it is not getting enough fuel. replaced the fuel filter and it solved the problem for a little while. Now its doing the same thing again.

You most likely have a fuel pump going out,the fuel filter replacement was a little late,it put strain on the fuel pump, and it has took it`s toll on the fuel pump,,I have seen it a lot,if this was helpful,at all, please rate, thank you,and have the fuel pump pressure checked.

How do you know if your power stearing pump is going bad on a 1998 ford expedition

When the power steering pump is going bad, you will be hearing a humming sound when you turn the steering while on idling and while driving at high speed.

At situations like this no repair can be done. Replacement is the recommended solution when you got a bad power steering pump.

Good luck and rate this.

Sounds like you should be replaceing your drive belt to the water pump or the water pump needs to be replaced, idleing seems to not have the capacity to keep you heater core full due to either of the above.
