There are a lot of points in the circuit that could cause this. In the Neon family of vehicles there is a safety circuit that will cause loss of spark if the fuel pump faults out. I know this because I had this problem in a 2000 Neon. The ECM can cause this if it detects a fault in some situations. Best recommendations unfortunately is take it to a shop and have it diagnose with the computer they have. Sorry.

So they changed the coil and cat. converter?

I would be checking for spark right after it shuts off. No spark is something in the ignition getting hot and failing. I suppose the shop checked for codes?
If no spark, possibly the crank position sensor or the ignition module-a shop can test both. Or if you take off the ignition module and take to a parts store, they should be able to test that.
If you do have spark at the spark plugs when it will not start, check fuel pressure or see if pump is working. When it stalls, do you hear the pump come on with key on?

common problem for dodge 4 cylinders...
never lower the oil level unless its real high on the dipstick..
you have the replace the spark plug guide seal.... it seals it from oil in the valve cover going into the spark plug guide and killing the spark... yes oil goes past the threads on the plug....

just did the valve cover on my 94 jaguar... has the same setup valve cover design

My dodge neon shut off and wont start

What year? First check for spark at any of the sparkplugs. If you have spark and fuel pressure then take the mass air flow sensor off and clean the small thin wires inside with a non-chlronated brake cleaner and let it dry for 10-15 minutes then re-install it and see if it will start.

Change the coolant sensor near the thermostat housing. Dodges are known for this problem. Be careful not to over torque the sensor. This will cause them to malfunction. Just tight enough to stop leaking of coolant.

1995 dodge neon dies after 2 miles

if the car sputters or anything before it dies then u might have a fuel problem. u could try changing ur fuel filter. Or simply give the car a tune up. New spark plugs and wires.

This sounds like a failure in the vehicle's Electronic Control Unit (ECU). When the circuits overheats, it cuts off the computer. You can spend a fortune going to a dealer to replace it, or you can buy a used or rebuilt one, or some companies will rebuild yours, or send you a replacement provided you ship your old one back for them to rebuild and sell.
