The nain fuel pump power on mos fords was PINK or RED. But 1st check would be the anti-rollover switch (Usually up near the kickpanel). If that has tripped, pressing the reset button will restore power to the pump.

How do I fix my gas gauge in my 1989 ford crown Victoria ltd?

Nine times out of ten, it is the sending unit in the tank that is the problem. To check, use a sort jumper wire to ground the gas gauge wire to the frame while watching the gauge needle on the dash, with the key in on position.

Find the gas tank electrical connector by the tank. Pull it apart, and on the harness side of the connector, locate the wire going to the sending unit. I don't know what color it is, but the fuel pump wire is a pink wire with black stripe and there is a black wire for the ground. The other wire should be for the dash gauge's sending unit. Have a helper turn the key to on and watch the gas gauge for any perceptible movement while you use the jumper wire, insert one end into the terminal for the gauge's sending unit wire (this is on the harness side of the connector, not the gas tank side), and touch the other end to the car frame-you are grounding it. If the dash gauge is good, the needle should move a lot, usually will move more than half way, one way or the other. So if it does, you know the dash gauge is good, and the problem is in the sending unit.

If it is the sending unit, it is quite a job to drop the tank, pull it out from under the car, then pull the fuel pump and sending unit out. You might be fighting a lot of rust on an '89-get some penetrating oil. And look for the removal procedure in a repair manual. It's not terribly difficult if you are handy with tools...and like to get dirty. Those hoses on the tank have been stuck on there a long time. Good luck.

I have a 94' chrysler concorde. How do I check to

Have someone stand or lie down close to the gas tank when you first turn the key on WITHOUT STARTING IT. They should hear the pump running to build up pressure. If not, check the fuse box under the hood for a blown fuse or bad pump relay.

if it has no electrical wires it is a fuel filter. if it has some wiring probably a fuel pump.if you have dual gas tanks it makes more sense for it to be a fuel pump because you have a delivery line plus a return line from each tank it may also be a fuel tank switch module... as models do vary some.

My 2008 toyota tundra ran out of gas i went and got gas, put the gas in but it wont start

I believe that the engine fitted into your vehicle is diesel fueled....Once this type of engine runs out of fuel, it is necessary to 'bleed' the system and remove all air from the fuel line
  • Open the bonnet (hood)
  • On top of the fuel filter housing is a flat silver metal plunger which must be pumped until it becomes hard.
  • Once the air has been removed, the engine should start.

Ran out of gas and now wont start

Have someone turn the key on (engine off) pull gas cap and listen at the fuel tank filler tube for a humming sound for a few seconds fuel pump running,If you don't hear a humming noise check fuel pump fuses,if you hear pump running it is a good possibilty that the pump impeller broke from running dry and you will have to replace fuel pump.

I have a 2000 Chevy 3500 box truck with 2 gas tanks. The gas guage only goes to 1/2 with both tanks full and it won't pump gas from the second tank. How do I fix this.

Fuel levels are equaled in the tanks via a frame mounted transfer pump that transfers fuel from the rear tank to the front tank where the main pump is. Your transfer pump needs replaced, and should run about 60 bucks. Should find the pump mounted to the frame between tanks.

HI,WHAT I WOULD IS GET SOMEONE TO LIE DOWN WHERE THE FUEL TANK IS AND WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY ON YOU SHOULD HERE THE FUEL PUMP KICK IN. IF YOU DON,T, GRAB A TEST LIGHT AND GO UNDER THE TRUCK AND FIND THE WIRES THAT GO TO YOUR TANK, THERE SHOULD BE 3 OR 4 OF THEM AND THERE SHOULD BE A PLACE WHERE THEY UNPLUG. FIND THE WIRE THAT GOES TO YOUR PUMP BY TURNING THE KEY ON AND OFF. YOU MAY ONLY HAVE A WIRE OFF OR BROKE OR THE PUMP MAY BE BAD. I HOPE THIS HELPS. JIMBO

I have an 85 Ford E350 chassis motorhome that won't switch to the rear gas tank. When the you flip the selector switch at the dash, you can hear a click from the transfer switch on the frame. The rear tank...

You should be able to hear the pump in the tank running. If you don't check the fuel pump relay. If you hear the pump running then the line/filter could be plugged. The white relay is the tank selector relay, the green relay is the fuel pump relay. If the green relay is bad you will have a bad time getting the replacement. The new relays from the dealer and parts stores are all 5 pin. The green relay is a 4 pin.

Also your genset probably has a pump that pulls from that tank on its own.

Just replaced the fuel filter on a 2003 Silverado and it still won't start. How do you determine if the fuel pump is bad?

Have someone lay under the truck next to the gas tank and listen while you turn the key to the ignition on position without cranking it. The pump should hum for two seconds when you first turn on the ignition.
You could try banging on the tank with a baseball bat, sometimes this wakes up the pump and it starts. If this works, replace the pump because it's not fixed.
