Well, the view can be had by looking under your car. Teh key to this service is whether you are installing new springs. To do that you need a compressor to handle the sproing compression. Rent one and be sure that it handles struts. Other than that, be sure to use safety jack stands, it is easy to push the vehicle and dislodge it during this type of service.

Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
Raise and support the vehicle safely. Remove the rear tires.
Remove the flange bolt from the bottom of the damper.
Remove the flange nuts from the bottom of the damper.
Open the trunk and remove the access panel cover, if necessary.
Remove the flange nuts from the top of the damper
Remove the damper assembly from the vehicle. Exploded view of the rear suspension strut-2001-05 Civic

Position the damper assembly in the vehicle.
Be aware of the direction of the damper mounting base so that the small hole dot on it is toward the front inside of the vehicle,
Loosely install the flange nuts on the top of the damper.
Loosely install the flange bolt on the bottom of the damper.
Raise the suspension with a floor jack to load it with the vehicles weight before tightening the nuts and bolt.
Continue the installation in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
