Open the fuse panel on the left side of the dashboard. There will be a panel of fuses and the panel cover will have a "key" as to which fuse it is you are replacing.

Is there perhaps a problem with the dome light switch on the lift gate? Close all the doors, open only the lift gate and find the switch on the lift gate frame (usually a rubber covered "bump") and press it in. You might have a loose wire shorting against the bodywork or the door is not depressing the switch properly.

2003 grand am no dash or rear lights fuses keep blowing mechanics cant figure out, tries tracing through driver door didnt work, go over bump it blows out,

Does your interior dome light work,if it doesnt take the dome lamp assembly out and disconnect the wire harness from there, reinstall the fuse and recheck lights,The possible short is coming from 2 likely areas the dome light or the dimmer light, what you do to the dome light to trouble shoot the short you will also perform on the dimmmer switch

My dome light, glove compartment light, and left & right courtesy lights do not work. All fuses re good.

Find the fuse that powers them and try replacing it even if it looks good. There are other possibilities, but try that first -- those little things can drive you nuts. There is also a control box for them or a body computer that includes the circuits for them, but the fuse is much cheaper and worth trying first.

I found a paritally blown fuse. When the fuse blew metal pieces ended up partially making contact. After replacing the fuse everything worked great.

Try checking your fuses, you may have a blown one. If the problem reoccurs, or it isn't the fuse, then you more than likely have a short somewhere, where you will need to spend up to several hours with a test light.
Good Luck!
