It should as long as the wheel well can compensate for such a large rim as you need to take into account the tire that will be mounted as well. Then there's the whole offset issue with the rim rubbing your fender or your suspension.

There's also the issue of the added weight. You will go through brakes a LOT faster.

Tire pressure for passat 2002

It is not so much the tire pressure for a Passat, 2002 as it is the tire pressure for a tire on the Passat 2002.

Only certain tires will fit on a Passat and VW knows this when they put the information on the door pillar, driver side in most 'editions' of the Passat. Same is said about what they printed in the owner manual and also the sticker that may be in your glove compartment.

All this information provided by VW is based on the tire that fits the Passat. The tire will have all the information you require molded into the side wall of the tire: recommended pressure, load range, temperature range and more. Look closely at the tire for this and lots more infomation including tire construction type, material and size.

Will the weight of 20inche rims hurt the transmission of a 2 wheel drive 2001 VW Passat, and I smell a burning rubber smell in my Passat when I turn the heat on and 15mins later it goes away, what is that...

No, the weight of the wheels isnt the problem. Jack the car up and look at the inside wall of your tires, they are probably rubbing somewhere. On some cars, when you install different rims, you need to buy spacers that go between wheel and the rotor. If you dont, the tires can rub. Sometimes they only rub when turning. See if this is your problem. Hope this helps

VW Passat Estate on Alloy wheels with 235/45/ZR17 tyres. want to find winter tyre suitable for 16 inch steel rim for same vehicle. Steel rim is marked 61x2JX16H2

okay, 235 is the tread width 45 is the profile(the distance from the wheel to the road)ZR is the speed rating(over 120mph)17 is the wheel diameter.so to get the same tread width 225 would fit(cheaper than 235)45 needs to be thicker cos of 16" not 17" wheels and 1"=25.4mm 75 would be the choice.because winter tyres are designed for speeds less than 70mph "R" would be suitable.
all together 225/ 75(or 85) R 16.....SNOW TYRE/WINTER TREAD.

Vw polo alloys, what other car will it fit

Other than VW, not many. May not be worth the troble of trying to see if any other foreign cars use the same size/design rims.

What size brakes does my passat have with 17 inch rims. also what type of upgrade rotors and pads would work

size of wheels is not an issue. Use standard B5 VW Passat pads and rotors if needed.

I've found that Original VW brakes last the longest.
