Question about 2004 Kia Sedona

2 Answers

I have a 2004 kia sedona van, where do I find the fuel injector? My van wont start and acts like is not getting gas. Prior to this state it seemed like it was vapor locking. What is the chance it is the fuel injector vs the fuel filter or pump?

It is most likely the pump because with a clogged injector it would still get gas in the other 5 injectors

Ur odds r better if u test pump by disconnectin the lines near the engine-this takes mech knowhow + repair book-may also be the fuel pressure regulator or just a line blockage--make sure it isnt an ignition problem 1st-

Sounds like you have damaged the fuel tank mounted fuel pickup pump. The pump is cooled and lubricated by the fuel it is immersed in, so when you lost all the fuel you likely ruined the pump.

recheck the timing belt to make sure it was done right,if the belt slips your engine will not start, maybe it was installed incorrectly.

2003 kia Sedona won't. start

If this is a sudden occurrence and nothing suspicious happened prior, you most likely lost either gas or spark to the engine. You need to check for both.

Do you hear the fuel pump in the gas tank buzz on for a couple of seconds when you turn the ignition key to ON? Unless the fuel pump turns on and puts gas under high pressure at the fuel injectors, the engine cylinders won't get gas to start. Correct fuel pressure is crucial to know if you have a fuel pump (or fuel filter) problem. If the pressure is correct, it is probably not a fuel problem but a spark problem, although there are less common instances where a fuel injector circuit may malfunction.

The ignition system not producing spark at the spark plugs is the other common problem of no starts. Buy a cheap spark tester at a parts store, plug it into one of your spark plug wires, then crank the engine over and watch for a strong blue spark. You might need a helper to do this. If you see a consistent spark, the ignition system is probably good, although you should probably check more than just one plug wire-sometimes one bad ignition coil in a coil pack will cause no starting. Good luck.

Something in my fuel pump is draining my battery and the van wont start. Meaning this I charge up the battery to start the van and the van will turn over but not fire (start) I replaced the fuel pump...

could be a bad ( tps ) sensor it registers the amount of pedal you give it so it knows how much fuel to give the engine if the starting volts are not where they should be it won't start.

Kia sedona 2002 smell gas in the interior of car

Sounds like you might have bad O2 sensors, leaking fuel injector O rings or a bad fuel pressure regulator. Check that the vacuum hose to the pressure regulator is connected and no cracks or holes in it. Any check engine light?

'03 Kia Sedona EX - ONLY Error Code - Clogged Catalytic Converter - Causing hesitation and 3 mpg reduction in gas mileage. Van in very good condition, 78,000 miles, 1 yr of 500 Miles/wk of Commuting...

Most "common" cause is and engine misfire that causes unburned fuel to enter the converter and overheat/melt the catalyst. The converter is covered by 8yr/80,000 mile warranty for defects, and may be covered thru Kia. On a positive note we have a 2005 sedona shuttle van a work with 250,000 miles on it and qoing strong.

Kia 2003 Sedona wont start

i have a similar problem but i have fuel at the rails if you take the cover off and look on the right side of the motor you will see the fuel lines goin in push the line on the pinch the two tabs on either sides and pull but be sure you do this before turning the key on because it wont have any pressure if indeed the pump is working .. after you have line off turn key on and crank the engine and see if fuel comes out if so the fuel is not the problem then you need to check injectors and or if you have spark... at this point in time i have spark and fuel but injectors seem not to firing and trying to get someone to help me is a bit frustrating so if you already gotten your van repaired i would gladly like to know what it is thank you robertthornburg@yahoo.com

2004 Kia Sedona trying to find the starter.

it is located on the drivers side underneath the van. you have to remove it from the underside of the car. you will need a 17 millimeter socket or wrench. Remove the ground cable before attempting to remove the starter.
