Question about 1993 GMC Jimmy

I have a 1993 GMC jimmy when it sits for a while it will start and it will run for a little while then it will spit and sputter then it will die i had it at a shop they said they put a fuel pressure reg. in it but i dont look like they put a new part in it but after i got it back from the shop i put about 60 miles on it befor it started to do this **** again i put a new fuel pump , gas tank and fuel filter in it before it went to the shop becuz the tank had rust holes in it

I had the same problem mechanic couldn't figure it out turned out to be the egnition shuting off

Check your temperature sensor. If your temperature sensor is bad it could cause your engine to flood out and die after it warms up. If it starts and runs fine when it has cooled down and then dies after it warms up that could be the problem.

with engine running at normal operating temp tap on MAF sensor to see if it stumbles also try cleaning MAF sensor

had exact same problem it was the fuel pressure reguator under the intake plenum 50$ part but labor little high if you can do it yourself pretty easy job

This could be a blockage in the carburator,try to clean it, especially the valves. There is a specific spray for the job on the market. You might need to dismantle it.

My jimmy will start and idle just fine however when I start to drive it,it sputters and spits then stalls out. when I restart it I have to floor it to get it to start again. if I rev it to about 6-8000...


i would suggest changing the fuel filter if this does't work check the fuel pressure. and get a mechanic to check the ecu fault codes. as this could be caused by a electronic fault.

Have the shop check fuel pressure at the fuel rail. Maybe the pump impeller has failed. If fuel pressure is good, your timing chain/belt may have slipped.

souhds like a blownhead gasket ,remove radiastor cap fill with water have someone crank engine over and see if water is spitting out if so thic confirms head gasket is blown

Might be fuel pump, or filter is pluged up, best to chg. filter and then do a fuel pressure test.
