To determine if there is any freon in the a/c system of your firechicken, just push in the Schroeder valve in the charging port. It can be drained by attaching a gauge set to the port and opening the gauge valve. EPA says that is illegal. To protect against freon blowing in your face you can cover any fitting with a towel and carefully open the connection partially. Protect yourself as you would from hot water or gasoline and don't breathe the stuff that comes out. Don't let it blow on your skin or it can give you instant frostbite.
To remove the system, just unbolt everything you want to remove. If you intend to re-use it in the future, seal all openings and store as much as you can in sealed plastic pails with about an inch of kitty litter covered with newspaper placed in the bottom of the pail. (that will help control moisture)

Look for the hose with the large nuts on them unscrew slowly until you hear the sound of air escaping then stop turning the nut allow air to drain for 5 minutes then it will be safe to dismantle AC components

Leak in "high pressure tube" causing A/C to not work

There are a couple of high pressure lines in your a/c system. The high pressure side usually hovers around 200-225 psi on warm days so the lines cannot be spliced. The system, by law, must be recovered and evacuated before any repair can be made. I'm sorry to tell you but this is not a repair that can be done at home in your garage unless you have a Freon recovery and evacuation machine at home.

Power steering leak

Looks like it is your High Pressure power steering hose gone bad, it will squirt more fluid as you turn the steering wheel. Replace as soon as you can, if that fluid lands on the engine it can easily ignite a fire under your hood, happen to me some time ago when my car began to leak power steering fluid from the high pressure hose and the oil got all over the hot engine, it ignited causing a engine fire. Power steering fluid is very flammable and dangerous when it is close to excess heat from the engine. Most power steering systems have a low and high pressure hose, the high pressure hose takes tremendous hydraulic pressure every time you turn your wheels.

Is there a door under the back seat of the 1999 traiblazer to get to the fuel sensor?

Sorry, but you have to remove the gas tank to replace the sensor (sending unit) and fuel pump.
It is a fairly complicated and potentially dangerous job for the home mechanic to do.
It involves de-pressurizing the fuel system, removing the gas, raising the vehicle, disconnecting the hoses and electrical lines, removing the tank, and removing the sending unit/pump.

2006 maxima not blowing cold air. What is the first thing I should check before taking it in for a $99 diagnostic. Thanks

Check fuses, also if you can or have some one help you check for freon pressure, that will also disable the a/c compr. Go to a small indepened repair shop they will do this check for much less.

Change ingnition switch on 1978 pontiac firebird trans am

Use a steering wheel puller to remove the snap ring that holds the big spring. Remove the screws that hold the signal light mechanism, and the signal light handle has to be removed. Lift the signal thing up to expose a "torx" headed screw. Remove that screw and the tumbler should pull out fairly easily. That torx screw should have an unthreaded part at the bottom of it. Make sure that comes with it. Sometimes they break off.

I need to relace refriderant, where is low pressure valve on 1978 chevrolet van air conditioner?

ALWAYS use the larger hose to put in the freon .. the small hose is the high pressure side stay away from it.. you might look near your dryer or on the dryer to find the port to put it in .. your dryer is about 3 inches across and 8 inches long cylinder.. instal freon with car running and ac on high. an empty system takes about 3 cans normally .. when its about right your compressor should kick in because there is a pressure switch on the dryer that tells it to kick on .. holler if you need more Jerry and thanks ..
