Question about 2004 Volkswagen Beetle
The driver's side window stays up when closing the door (after getting out). It doesn't slide down to clear the convertible top anymore. If you shut the door, then reopen it, it will drop down to clear the top and then roll back up to close it. Is this a sensor that needs replacing?
Not likely. You have a defective window regulator. To fix remove the door panel. Peel down the warer barier. Remove the window motor and check it. If the plastic plugs are defective replace. To remove the window regulator you will need a 1/4 inch punch to punch out the rivits and 1/4 inch drill to drill out the aluminum holding in the regulator. Replace these with 1/4 inch bolts and lock nuts.

Yes it needs to be replaced...cost around $300.00. You can insert ur key in the door and let the window down a tad and when getting in and when getting out roll the window down a little and roll them back up with the key when ur out of the vehicle. That's what we did till we got the money to fix it.
