ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!! The MPV reservoir is not an overflow but part of the pressurized system. Ever think it's weird the radiator cap is located on the reservoir?

Most coolant cans are not under pressure so if it were the correct size mounted at the right height you shouldnt have a problem with a universal coolant can. If the can is mounted at the wrong height you could have a problem with the can not functioning the way its supposed to.
Hope this helps.

My 2000 mazda mpv is blowing air into the coolant tank at high revs. removed the thermostat and radiator was cleaned but there is no change

If your getting air into your cooling system, the the most likely cause is a blown head gasket.
