SOURCE: Belts making noise

my belts have broken. Car overheated, lost power steering, and battery light illuminated. What is wrong with my car? previous website listed above shows a serpentine belt tensioner, does this apply to my 1998 Mazda Protege? it says that it is only for a Mazda Navajo and a Mazda pickup.

SOURCE: I have a 1995 Mazda MPV,V6,4x4,I think the fuel is not working

Don't drop the gas tank. Pull back the carpet in front of the rear seat and there will be a square cover closer to behind the passenger seat with 4 screws holding it down. Remove that cover and it will expose your fuel sending unit cover. This will be circular in shape with 6 or 8 small philips head screws holding it in place. Unfortunately they will probably be very rusty and hard to get out. You will first need to disconnect the electrical plug and the 2 fuel lines. After removal of the fuel lines and the screws carefully remove unit to expose fuel pump.

When I took my MPV to get inspected the diagnostic machine coud not read my van's computer? thanks, lee

nothing uncommon ,perhaps you have a europeon model software ,its not plugged in here in europe but a sensor placed in the exhaust that reads the emmisions ,so the manufacturers can get away with encrypting the software to stop general garages from fault finding ,could be your mazada has this software

How long to replace a timing belt on 98 MPV 3.0 V-6 and do the valves get damage when it breaks. Can I do this at home or does it call for special tools. Thank You, Steve

I dont think you should attempt this. I dont think it will have bent valves. When you replace the belt, replace the water pump and ALL the pulleys (2) , and tensioner pulley and spacer , all the oil seals. no special tools are involved, but you need to know what you are doing.
