Chevy venture not starting when engine is cold

Almost ran out of gas and ever since then my van doesn't want to start in the morning when the engine is cold. Changed the fuel filter but still experiencing problems. When I try to start it there is a smell that reminds me of something electrical.

Under the hood there is a fuel pressure test port..(IE no less than 45psi) on that v6.if thats ok then test the wires going to the pump, you should have ground at all times, and 12vdc at key on only. hope this helps

My Chevy venture 2002 van doesn't start. Good

You replace parts as part of your preventative
maintenance program, not to solve a problem
When working on a problem only component testing
will find the issues
You need to check for fuel pressure at the motor with a gauge
You check spark with a test plug you buy,not ground a plug
or wire on the vehicle
You can check for compression or cylinder leak down
to test some mechanical issues
I would assume ALL Fuse & links have been checked,as
well as battery voltage 12.6 v or more & cables etc
The ignition switch could be bad, turns starter but not all
the internal contacts are good

Ran out of gas and wont start

injection system may have air in it dont know much about this model try cleaning spark plugs by warming them up on a gas cooker not to much just warm clean them and try that might just be damp plugs but it sounds to me that there could be an air blockage in system some ford models diesels are notorious for not starting when the run out if possible check to see if there is any way you can see if there is any fuel getting to carb of inj system

Chevy venture van passenger side AC blows cold, driver's side blows warm to hot

Usually a blend door problem, either the control or the blend door itself.

My 2002 chevy 1500 van , 4.3 liter v6, will not fire. ran great, no signs of trouble leding up to now. Cranks, cranks, & cranks but no sputter, fire, anything

I would check and be sure I had fire to the plugs and fuel to the throttle body. I read what you wrote about the fuel pump but then on the end of the description where you put gas in the van the pump might not be working. If so you could have a bad wire to the fuel pump or a plugged fuel filter. Once you verify those items I would pull the 02 sensor ahead of the catalytic converter in the exhaust and make sure the cat or muffler is not plugged. If they are it will put back pressure on the engine and not allow fuel into the cyl. to fire.

Ran out of gas so I put gas in, then it did not start. Now I need a jump everytime to get the van started

Have the battery charged and tested, I suspect it has a bad cell in it and does not have the power to crank the engine and work the ignition system at the same time.

Stall upon running out of gas but won't start up again with gas

Remove the air cleaner and pour about a quarter cup of gasoline into the carburetor or throttle body. Do not stand near the engine when cranking it -- fire/small explosion hazard.

Engine problem

Re check the wire harness and pay attention to the crankshaft sensor. I hope that's a good start for now and good luck.
