Question about 1998 Nissan Altima

1 Answer

I have a 1998 Nissan Altima. Lately, some animal has ripped holes into the fabric back seat and gotten into the car. I think it must be coming in under the car but I don't know how. How can I stop this from happening. It has happened twice already.

Be careful... the rodent may be "nesting" in the trunk (seriously).

One access hole (supposed to be plugged) is in the trunk, under the spare tire. Look in the lowest part of the trunk, there is a hole with maybe the cover loose. The hole is approximately the size of a dollar bill folded in half. It is a "drain" plug if the trunk gets water in it.

If not there, then it may be under the back seat ... again, use caution when you remove the back seat.

Look for signs of its nest. Use a rodent repellent, not a poison... you don't want it to die in an inaccessible place in your car. It will be a real stinkeroooo.

Hope this helps!

Bought reconstructed a/c compressor for my 98 nissan altima. But did not come with connections. How do I change the connections from the old to the new?

The old pipes should fit right in the new holes and bolt right up. If they don't, you have the wrong compressor. It should be exactly what you took out. If it isn't, you won't have to worry about hooking it up because it probably won't fit. Check it out.

Could be the bearings in your alternator have gone dry and your alternator is about to quit out on you. I had a friend with an 01 altima and we could always hear him coming before we saw him because of this very problem. Changed the alternator out and noise went away. Thanks for using FixYa!

Need New Seats

Take it to an auto upolstery shop, they may be able to repair the damage, or recover the seat.
Failing that, you can check the auto wreckers, and finally the dealer.

Hope this is of some help.
