Try locking and unlocking the doors with the key fob to see if it corrects the problem. You can also try using the key and locking and unlocking the drivers door only

What makes a 1988 F150 trucks ingnition stay engaged

Most likely the ignition switch or the rod in the steering column is sticking and keeping the switch engaged, possibly the ignition lock cylinder is sticky too. Easy to get lock cylinder out with a small punch that depresses a pin when the lock cylinder is in the run position, look under the steering column by the switch for a hole to poke the punch into and then pull out the lock cylinder.

Jost power steering and power brakes at same time. any ideas

The engine provides power steering through the power steering pump that is runnung when the engine is going and the power brakes are powered by the vacuum generated when the engine is running. To lose both togeather then the engine probably stopped.

When engine turned off and keys removed, the radio and interior console remain on. They don't turn off once the door is opened, and the doors will not lock unless you manually lock with the key. Went to...

Sounds like you have a short to power. there are several wires that connect to your radio and console . one is the ignition wire that kills power to the radio and console when the key turns off. What has probably happened is that wire has found a constant power source from another wire and it constantly stays on. finding this short is very difficult because it is under the dash so you might want to take it to a professional. Also if the van has the feature where the radio doesnt cut off until you open the doors, then your short may be somewhere in the sensors on the doors.

Toyota lucida that was running fine then suddenly stopped, lights came up on dash then the engine died, tried to restart but the starter motor just clicked.i have changed the starter but it still clicks and...

If you have a known good starter on it and all the wiring to starter and relay is good, you may have a locked up (siezed) engine from lack of oil pressure or runnung hot. I would try turning engine by hand (put a socket and ratchet on the balancer bolt) and try turning it, if it doesn't turn then it is locked up.

Won't start up

no fuel getting to the engine, Ill assume there is gas in the car. It could be that the elecrtic fuel pump is not runnung. This could be either the pump itself or the relay that turns it on. While sitting in the car turn the key to the run position not start. when you get to the run position you should hear a buzzing sound for about 2-3 seconds, if not you would need to check the fuel pump relay, the fuel pump relay circut fuse could be blown also

Turn key off on a 200 jetta and the engine stays running. Pop clutch to kill and the dash stays lit. Turn key back and the steering wheel locks like normal.

Key switch is defective. Very common on this model. Some of them won't start. Dealer item only unless you go to a junkyard. Hope this helps. Good luck

1990 dodge dynasty 3.3 engine starts fine but a second later dies changed gas filter and fuel pump and regulator still don't stay started.

Same thing happened to my '89 Dynasty. Turns out the security system was engaged and this stops the motor from running; therefore. a thief cannot drive away with the car! The system is set by using the power locks or an autolock fob, but not by locking manually. Disconnecting the battery will also engage the security system. To disengage, close the driver or passenger (front) door and turn the key in the lock.
