Need to restore colour to car bumper

When trying to get paint from another car off our bumper we have accidentally removed all the colour from an area of our bumper. Have tried covering it using polish, back to black etc but it is so smooth nothing will stick. Any suggestions please?

If you have applied a polish you will need to use some silicone remover first. It is a solvent a bit like thinners but not as aggressive. Then you need to apply a thin spray of plastic primer (usually clear and just a very thin spray is all that's required). You can buy small aerosol cans of this from the auto shop. With the area primed you should have no problems with the top coat sticking.

It needs to be wet sanded, primed, wet sanded again and painted with paint containing "Flex Seal".

Use a light sand paper first this will ruff the surface a little then wipe it down getting all dust off then primer it then apply your finish coat of black be sure to use the same name brands of paint and primer.

Remove rear bumper from 2012 Dodge Journey

Randall, remove all screw, clips, fasteners securing bumper and then any wiring harness plugs etc. attached to bumper. This is some times a 2 person job, to prevent damage to the bumper, especially when installing. A V-pry tool may be required to remove plastic fasteners easily. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

How much to repaint the damaged paint about 4 inches long on the front bumper of a 2001 audi tt

That would depend on the labor rates in your local area. Also how the work is done. From just painting and blending clear in a small area and to removing the bumper cover and clear the whole cover.

How to re-paint scaped and scuffed car bumpers and fenders

In my experience, it's good to get paint that is matched to the original manufacturer's color from a place like NAPA auto parts.

Ask about the 'flex' agent as well, as many bumpers are made of plastic which will need it for a satisfactory result.

Then, get an air brush or detail paint gun and an air compressor (small) that can power it.

Sand the affected area with coarse down to fine sandpaper until relatively smooth.

Spray grey or red primer on the masked off area.

Fill the canister with paint and spray the scuffed and scraped bumpers or fenders.

You can paint small areas outside or in a large dust free garage, or preferably in a paint booth that has down draft ventilation.

Wear proper apparel for painting when you do this.

New paint can fill many cracks on several coats.
