I ended up chucking it into the shop... got beyond us, anyway it was the wiring on the fuel pump after all that!!!! App it is quiet common for the wiring to go near the fuel pump on these.

Are you sure theres power to new fuel pump ?
Does the fuel pump make a small humming noise when you turn the key to the start possition ?

If the fuel sending unit isn`t making any sound at all even if you have some one crawl under the car and listen next to the fuel tank then its not working before you panic thuogh see if theres a reset button for it. it might be in the trunk or glove box

Ask for the mass air flow sensor cleaner at AutoZone ok spray it on the carb do not take of the plastic housing that looks like a honeycomb ok that will fix the problem don't start the car when u spay it just let it be for 30 minutes turn it on with out stepping on the gas ok don't press the gas just let it start on its own do it once or twice,

2002 kia rio wont run for more than 5 seconds then it dies out.

Weak fuel pump, (check fuel pressure) Im leaning towards a Clogged catalytic converter as its the most common overlooked problem that will cause a car to run for a bit after it sits a while, only to not restart immediatly after it stalls, but will again start after some time.

My 2004 Kia Rio has engine problems. At about 2500 rpms, it stalls out. Not sure if it is a fuel filter probl;em or spark plug issue. Can you help?

That sounds like a fuel starvation problem. The easy route would be to replace your fuel filter and see if the problem is solved.

Check engine light air and fuel mixture code replaced o2 sensor could it be fuel pump runs great

unfortunately that code could mean several things. Yes, the fuel pump is a possibility, so is the fuel filter and air filter. All of these can give you the same error code. Could even be as serious as a vacuum leak around the manifold, doubtful, but possible.

My son's 2004 Kia Optima started stalling on the highway. 1st he noticed the RPMs drop then come back up. This happened several times before the car finally stalled. After a couple attempts, it...

Start with the simple and replace the fuel filter. The fuel filter should be replaced every 15,000 miles or once a year to ensure the fuel system is running 100%. Auto Zone will have the fuel filter and can give you the step by step instructions to getting the job done with common tools. If it's the fuel pump failure, you have not gotten the car restarted. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to know you got your car running 100% again soon and please rate.

Back fireing

The timing belt very well could be the problem. Those things last about 60k, 75k tops. The fuel filter should be checked( replaced ) as well. You can have the check engine checked for free at Advanced Auto. Does this car have a computer board ?
