The air bags for the suspension on my 2001 Expedition

The air bags for the suspension on my 2001 ford expedition won't activate anymore, and it makes for a HORRIBLE ride. Before I get a conversion kit I want to check the system first, but I don't know which fuses powers it, or where the sensors are. Can anyone help?

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

If the compressor is working and actually pumping out air, might need to check your lines dont have a leak by disconnecting them from the bags. If pressured air is making it to the end of the line, then bags may need to be inspected and one or both replaced. However it is more likely that the lines are leaking or the compressor pump needs a service. Just a new set of rings in the unit. Good luck, hope it helps.

Any part of the air ride suspension system could have failed.
I would replace the air suspension, with a conversion, such as strutmaster or similar product, other wise you have to diagnose your current system and repair.

These Lincoln air suspensions are terrible. I have converted many over to coil springs at a fraction of the cost of replacing/repairing the bags. If the rear bags don't inflate, there is a broken air line to the bags or the bags are leaking

I have a air ride suspension on my ford expedition 2001 and wonder if there's any way to manually air up the shocks to check for leaks .my ride along compressor is shot.

They eventually wear out. But if you try to replace parts, it will not fix the ongoing problem. You really need to change it to coil suspension. The problem with air ride is the bags will eventually go bad and it cost more to replace them than air bags in the steering wheel. I was lucky. My Expedition had already been changed over

This is simple the air suspension air bags are leaking, they last about 75-100,00 miles on this model, even less if driven on harsh roads or off road.

Air bags suspension won't inflat. Checked all fuses & air suspension switch. What can the problem be?

Probably failed seal or air bag leaking air. Check again and try to see if this will do the trick. Sometimes pvc line could fail to deliver air to the bag too!

My 2001 Ford Expedition looses air in the rear air bags after i cut it off. I don't hear any air leaks or anything! What can be the problem?

the air bags release air after it sits. The rear raises back up after starting engine, if you add weight, it raises up even more to compensate for level suspension. It should be fine unless it's sitting almost on thr ground, but it does release air and sit lower.

2001 ford expidition, back end low and ck susp. light came on

at a guess you need new valves or air bags for the suspension. not cheap & best left to professionals. whenever you have to jack or tow vehicle to a point where the vehicle is out of level, make sure to disable the air suspension using the switch located near the front seat passenger's feet up under dash, in a corner. this helps prevent damage to air bag system & repairs

2001 Ford Expedition XLT EB rear air bag suspension does not inflat

Sounds like the seals may have failed in the air shocks themselves. I also think you may have a bleeder valve problem. Follow the lines back and check the bleeder valve to see if it is leaking when you have someone else turn the vehicle on.
