You should be able to get a rebuilt or aftermarket master cylinder for a reasonable price at any parts store.

You can also buy a rebuild kit but it's probably not worth it as it's a lot more work and takes much more in the way of skill and tools to complete the job.

40 to 80 bucks and a new master cylinder, replacement is faster and more reliable.

I just had the brakes done on my 92 firebird about 5 months ago now my brake light came on yesterday and I have to push the brake to the floor to stop. Whats wrong with it?

either fluid level is low or you need to check the sensor located in the master cylinder. Master cylinder can also be bad.

Brakes are spongy and need to be pumped at times. Master cylinder resevoirs are full and there are no apparent leaks. Master cylinder?

you may need to strip out all the brake calibres if there sezed up this will give you a springy pedel or you may just have air in the lines

Brake valve leaking on front left side inside engine compartment in a 1994 Olds delta 88. Brake warning light

are you talking about the brake master cylinder, leaking fluid down the fire wall in front of the drivers position? if so ,it is probably running down the inside under the carpet as well.. no matter where its from brake leaks need fixing straight away. it is probably the brake master cyl. that is leaking and it is not a big job to replace it "YOUDOIT"

My 2002 firebird will shift into gear with engine off but not with engine on.

Check your clutch hydraulic system for leaks and master cylinder bypass problems. If OK, likely the clutch is worn. You didn't note slipping so likely it's in the hydraulics.

The clutch control system in your car is hydraulic, and utilizes a clutch master cylinder, similar to the brake master cylinder, and a clutch slave cylinder mounted on the exterior of the bellhousing. If the fluid has leaked out, both the master and slave cylinders need to be replaced with new. They should be replaced as a set,as one is just as old as the other.Adding fluid may build the pedal back up,but only temporarily. The clutch master cylinder and reservoir is bolted to the firewall, driver side, and should have a round black cap.The system uses regular DOT 2 or 3 brake fluid for the hydraulics
