SOURCE: on my 1985 toyota mr2

Did you wait long enough for the thermostat to open? It takes a while to actually see the water move. The thermostat rarely gets stuck in the closed position, It's the other way around, it get's stuck open. So, don't blame the thermostat, I would drive it and keep an eye on the temp gauge, make sure it doesn't overheat. Why did you replace the water pump in the first place? Was it leaking? Check it out, hope this helps.

SOURCE: 1985 Toyota MR2 I hooked

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. To be honest, without running a diagnostic test, it is hard to tell. This is what you need to do next. Sometimes, it can be just a few things. Other times, it can fry the all the electronics. You should try to take it to the shop to have a scan done on it. They usually cost around 100 dollars. Without the test, it is like trying to find a needle in a hay stack. If you can't, all I can tell you is start testing parts and fuses. Look for any damage wires. If your computer is close to the battery, that may be what is bad. It has a metal shell. That may be the only problem but you just can't tell without the test.

Fuel pump not geting power

usually the oil pressure switch is connected with the fuel system if this is bad it tells the ecm not to power the fuel pump because it thinks the engine has low or no oil in it.

HOW DO I REPLACE A BRAKE LIGHT ON A 1987 MR2?

Open the rear bootlid behind the engine and there are two carpet panels on each side covering the light electrics. they are held in by fastners, push each fastner at the centre to release them.
Remove the carpet panel to get access to the brake light. Twist the bulb holder and replace the bulb.
Then replace the carpet panels using the fastners.

Engine & valve problems

Could be the timing belt? If it breaks it wont be an easy fix and it wont be cheap to have someone do it for you either. The good thing is that it CAN be fixed, unlike those Honda motors. The power loss issue makes me think that it is a timing belt issue. Hope this helps a bit...Good Luck!
