Check under hood for throttle cables near the battery contacting the underside of the hood. Bend there support brackets down a bit and see if your noise goes away.

I have a 05 Scion XB W/215000 mi My vsc ck eng light go on all the time. The dealer told me it was a little dirt speck of dirt in the timing gear and it would cost almost a thousand dollars to fix it. So I just disconnect the neg battery cable for 2 minutes and reconnect. The light stays out for about 4-6 months. when it comes on again I just repeat the steps.

You can buy a neat little tool called a settingsaver (pretty much a 9v battery that plugs into the lighter. It permits you to disconnect battery without having problems with radio, security system etc.
