Question about 1998 Ford F150 Regular Cab

1 Answer

I have a 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. Sometimes when I first start it up in the morning, it vibrates and sometimes dies. When I start it back up. it's fine and drives awesome all day. I have had two Sport Tracs and they both have done this. What could be the problem?

Is the Check Engine Light on? Even if the Check Engine light is not on valuable information may be stored in the computer in your car that may hold useful information in diagnosing the problem with your Explorer. A scantool is needed to interrogate the information stored. Does the engine idle relatively smooth if you keep your foot slightly pressed on the accelerator pedal?
There is an idle speed control device that may not be functioning correctly, you may have a vacuum leak,

I have a 2002 ford explorer sport trac. My truck ran fine yesterday but this morning I went to start it & it started ran for about 5 seconds then died I did this 4 or 5 times then my son noticed some...

Check your fuel pressure, there are Relays to check. Sometimes the pump is so weak that it delivers enough to start the engine and can not keep up. It is also built to shut down the fuel if the engine dies.

When you turn the key, you should hear the fuel pump run. As for the smoke, with the automatic shut-offs occurring, there is moisture and incomplete combustion gases leaving the tailpipe.

2004 sport trac engine died as driving

I also have a 2004 sport trac and I had the same thing happen to me on the highway and in town. I thought that it might have been a fuel problem but I was wrong. When it finally quit restarting, it was towed in and the problem was the crank sensor. Apparently it is really close to the belts and it is susceptible to wear.

Engine location of the PVC on a 2004 ford explorer sport trac

Your vehicle is equipped with a "heated PCV" It is located on the back of the intake manifold and has coolant lines attached to it. It must be unbolted from the manifold. (See picture)

I have an '04 Explorer Sport Trac. When my girlfriend went to start it today she said "check fuel pump" popped up on the screen then it died and wont crank back up. Any suggestions?

seperate the fuel line at the fuel injecter, turn the engine over if fuel comes out , more than likely it is not the pump, if you get no fuel, change the filter, try again, if no fuel most fuel pumps today are in the tank, drop tank change pump
