Sounds like your switch contacts are shorted closed.. try disconnecting the switch for inspection and use a volt ohm meter to inspect switch across contacts...

I agree with Jeff, there is a set of contacts that are permamnently stuck closed.

Your 2001 Town Car should have EATC (Electronic Automatic Temperature Control) This means that the blower speed is not controlled by manual switches, instead it is controlled automatically in an attempt to maintain a desired temperature.

The EATC in the dash board sends a signal to the blower controller which is located in the engine compartment of the car. The contacts that are welded shut are in the relay on the blower controller. This relay is used to bypass the transistor when the highest speed is selected. Since the relay has bypassed the transistor, slower speeds can not be attained.

It is possile to repair your blower controller, however it is likely that other components may fail on the same assembly in the future. If you have already gone through the effort to remove the part, you may as well replace it.

A new aftermarket replacement can be purchased here:

Why wont my a/c or heater fan come on?

When the blower works only on the high setting its usually a bad blower resistor which is right near the blower motor. now you say it would always blow high regardless of the fan speed setting that would indicate probably the climate control unit or a connector problem somewhere. finally it not working at all may be the climate control unit or connection went bad even further. it might have a blown fuse or a bad blower motor in addition to the climate control unit or connector problem .check for power and ground at the blower motor. the power is supplied from fuses and may have a relay also. the ground is supplied from the climate control unit and goes through the resistor to control the fan speed. good luck

The ac is on full at all times, even when you adjust the fan hight. someone sayed i need a a/c auto amplifier. but i can't find that part

Good Evening, If I am translating this properly your fan only works on the high setting? And the other settings do not change the speed? If this is correct respond back and I will help as much as possible.

Heat/ac fan only blows on high

Check the heater control switch,,,,,and the number of wires at the heater motor....Some motors have more than one winding...in which case there will be three or more wires going into motor..there can be burnout in those windings and will require a new motor....check the plug which attaches to the motor....can be bad connection...or at the switch.....but if there is only two wires....then the heater switch uses resistors to slow down the different speeds...and direct connection for high speed....and the problem is definitely the switch...

Blower fan not working for heat and AC. THis is on a 2000 Lincoln towncar

This sounds like a BSC blower speed controller. it is located outside on the a/c case just below the heater hoses. to diagnose just wiggle the connector with the key on engine off, you should hear the fan come on, then replace it.

How to fix 1999 lincoln TC heater/AC fan speed. Speed is intermittent or not blowing at all. Fan sometimes blows at full speed then may start to turn on and off. Sometimes it does not blow at all.

You have a problem with the resistors on your blower motor. 95% of AC/Heater blower motors are located under the glove box in the passanger foot well. When you remove the motor you should see a resistor plate. Resistors are not servicable and will need to be replaced. This is a relatively cheap part, that you can replace yourself if your handy, if not take it to your local tech.
