1999 Ford Taurus radio and cd player problem.

Hi. I own a 1999 Ford Taurus and I've been having problems with my radio and ten disk cd player (which is located in the trunk). They both do not work. My radio is stuck on the same radio station 101.1 and the station will not even change when I hit tune or seek and also I get no sound. My cd player in the trunk is not being read either. Every time I turn it on it doesn't read the cds. Also I cannot eject the cds as well. They are all stuck in the player. I've already checked my fuses and they are fine. It's kind of weird how it all of a sudden happened. My radio at first kept fading in and out but then it just gave up and started having the problems I stated above. I just wondered what could be wrong. Thanks.

SOURCE: Ford AU11 Fairmont CD Player / Radio

You need some special tools which slot in to the holes at the sides of the stereo, they release some clips and the unit slides out. Then you can take the cover off the unit and remove the jammed CD. These units are notorious for failure, especially the six disc stackers, and are probably not worth repairing, can be more expensive to repair than fitting a decent aftermarket cd player. Most audio installers or your local Ford dealer will have the tools to remove the unit, and if you just want the radio, you could remove the jammed cd and refit the stereo and just not use the cd player. You'll need to get the radio code from a Ford dealer to get the stereo going again if you disconnect and reconnect it. They may need the serial number off the unit to give that to you, and you may need to prove ownership of the vehicle.

SOURCE: cd in car player will NOT eject -any ideas ??

The only way to fix your problem is to have a radio repair shop take it apart. You cannot fix this on your own. Remove the radio or get a quote from a repair shop first. If you cannot find a repair shop , talk to the parts guys at you local ford dealer about sending it out for repair.

SOURCE: Radio LCD Lights Don't work - 2007 Ford Fusion

I was told by the Ford dealership that I had to replace the entire radio. This is also happening with my Ford Fusion (2007). I opted not to replace w/ the same radio because what if it happens again?? My lights came back after some time, but who knows how long they will last.

I'm looking to do do 2 things with my 99 Taurus LX Sedan...replace the original Stereo with 99 that has a CD player or add Cd changer...which is more practical? Also where is the fuse for Cigerette...

buy a single cd/radio,that way you will not carry hundreds of dollars worth of discs around, also get one where you can plug in your mp3 player in,then you will not need discs, which are now obsolete anyway.

1999 Ford SE digital display reads ''NO CD'' and changer is stuck

Magazine-type CD changers are prone to jamming with a disc in transit between the magazine and the player. You may have to resort to disassembling the trunk unit to get access to the jam.

2001 Ford Taurus Radio doesn't work but CD player does!

Does your car have an automatic raising and lowering antenna? If it does check your fuses for it. If not pull your radio out of the dash, and check to make sure that the antenna wire has not become lose or unplugged from the back.
