DIY install new tps on 2001 F 250

I cannot afford the $500 quote for changing the tps on my truck. I bought a new sensor, but I do not know how to install it.

Does any know how to fix this when it's plugged in it won't go over 55 mph it's Nissan pickup xev6 1995 i know it has something with the (tps) but I bought a new one put it on didn't change anything

Go to youtube an watch videos on testing Throttle position sensors ,A TPS would have nothing to do with the vehicle not going over 55 MPH . You best bet is to take it to a ASE certified repair shop that knows how to test these type problems , with known diagnostic troubleshooting procedures.

1993 Mitsubishi 3000gt when mass air flow sensor is plugged in car wont rev past 2500 rpm car was bought with it unplugged. Replaced the mass air flow sensor an still does it. When its unplugged it runs...

The computer only knows the voltage across what it thinks is the MAS. A bad wiring connector and a bad MAS is all the same to the computer. I would change the harness to the MAS before I spent any time or money on any other problem solving.

How to replace the TPS.

no engine option stated, and is key fact to know here.
The 5.7L V8 engine does not use a separate Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) on the throttle body.

remove old TPS, and bolt on new.
its like 2 or 3 screws. no big deal.
but needs to be calibrated per fsm.
ill take a wild guess, 3.7L
3.7L Engine and 4.7.
  1. Remove air resonator tube at throttle body.
  2. Disconnect TPS electrical connector.
  3. Remove two TPS mounting screws.
  4. Remove TPS.
The throttle shaft end of throttle body slides into a socket in TPS. The TPS must be installed so that it can be rotated a few degrees. (If sensor will not rotate, install sensor with throttle shaft on other side of socket tangs). The TPS will be under slight tension when rotated.
  1. Install TPS and retaining screws.
  2. Tighten screws to 60 inch lbs. (7 Nm) torque.
  3. Connect TPS electrical connector to TPS.
  4. Manually operate throttle (by hand) to check for any TPS binding before starting engine.
  5. Install air cleaner tube to throttle body.

ok whats the governor? i have a 05 interceptor cv. my lights the dims and high beams keep clicking out. i checked the fuse under the dash and they are all good,and to work the highbeams i need to pull back on the blinker switch?

Fix throttle senser

This is simple, on the throtlebody you will first make sure key is off and not turned on until new sensor is installed. remove the connector from the tps, next remove the two screws holding it to throtlebody, remove tps sensor, when installing new sensor you need to make sure that the arm in the throtlebody is connect to new sensor. if you look at sensor its spring loaded so make sure it goes in correctly so it moves sensor. 2_19_2012_11_56_15_pm.jpg

????1762 should be a transmission problem!!! Makes no sense at all.
Review: you had a tps code (but the engine ran well?) You changed it and it threw injector codes and ran poorly...You took it out and put the old one back (was code still there? Did it run well?) You put another new one in and now you have a transmission code? and how is it running?
Only commonality here is that the tps runs in tandem with all other sensors Make sure you clear old codes after doing any work and see what comes up after driving through a few cycles/ And get a volt/ohm meter and test the tps to see if in fact it's out of range. It somehow sounds more like a MAP sensor problem..or even a harness problem....but, test before getting anything else.

clean the throttle body and replace the mass air flow sensor a know good one and see if that fixes it if it does you found your problem. normally the mass air flow sensor would cause the rig to run crappy atany speed.

It seems that you probably have a major vacuum leak,causing a very hi idle and rough shifting . The fist thing is get a can of intake cleaner and with the engine runing ,spray around the base of the throttle body and observe any changes in idle speed. The gasket under the TBI has a habit of leaking. When there is an uncontrolled vacuum leak the engine just thinks you have opened the throttle. Good luck Moe
