The mii am a Ford dealer tech of 25 years experience and here is what I have found causes this problem, it is the DURASPARK IGNITION MODULE.

Testimonial: "thanks i will replace the module and get back to you, i have checked fuel press. etc and could not determine a problem, but this seems like a solution"

If you replace the module it is also a very idea to replace the pickup in the distributor as well, very cheap parts, Duraspark and pickup less than $50

just read this post .i have a very poorly ford econovan 1984, petrol. it starts and then cuts out sometimes. this is why i picked it up so cheap of some travelers. so it tends to cut out when you accellerate but then comes back to life when the engin slows down, then trying to acellerate again makes it cut out, this could go on for a while . any sugestions please?

Have DR650 motorcycle, seems to be fuel starved at higher revs, cutting out, replaced filter, and drained carby no better, any suggestions?

Check the Tank vent, If it's starving or cutting out it may be creating a vacuum on the tank. Open the tank a bit and see if it still starves at higher RPM. If it runs fine, Located the vent tube and lean it out or clean the vent on the gas cap either way. If it's still starving for fuel, then look at the petcock. If it's one of the vacuum diaphragm auto types, the diaphragm is probably bad and will need to be replaced. Dump it and get a manual valve.

Engine cuts off

I think you might need to change the fuel pump you can try changing the fuel filter first but it is most likely the fuel pump

The engine on my 2000 MPV cuts out and dies when I press the accelerator. After it sits for an hour or so, I can travel for 20 min. or so before the problem starts again. HELP!

if its been a while change the fuel filter and then have the fuel pressure and volume checked.these symptoms are very common for a fuel pump problem.

Lexus ls400 cuts out

I have the exact same car that had the exact same problem. I looked high and low for months trying to figure out the problem. I changed the fuel pump, coil packs, spark plug wires, plugs, throtle position sensor and nothing fixed it. It would crank fine, but when it warmed up it would spit and sputter like it was running out of gas. It would shut off and would not crank back until it cooled off. The computers in those cars have something wrong with them causing it to starve the car for fuel. I sent my computer to Auto Computer Exchange in Davie Fl. They repogramed the computer with a one year warenty for $305. I put it in the car and It is fixed. One other thing that might happen with this car is the insturment cluster will go out. These cars are known for that. If this happens just go on Ebay and buy a rebuilt one for less than $100 it wil have a lifetime gurantee. good luck Ed

Cuts off in warm weather after about 10 miles

Don't rule out fuel pump. Had a 95 do the same, ran great when cool in morning then when it got hot in afternoon, it would quit. Wait 15-20 minutes & go again, sometimes got me home, other times a few more miles until it cooled down again. Luckily I had access to a fuel pressure gauge. Cool in morning had 49 psi, when it quit, 2 psi. Wait 20 minutes, 49 psi again. If you can drive it around until it starts to act up then run into a repair shop for fuel pressure test it will confirm it. If not, they may need it all day to monitor the fuel pressure & confirm it is pump. If your a gambler, change it & fuel filter. One thing I did get was trouble codes indicating a lean mixture, due to starving for fuel. Have you cycled your key to retrieve any codes yet?
