Front end shimmy 04 Chrysler 300M

I have a 02 300 with the same problem. Also had a tapping sound as the brakes were applied. Tried rotating and balancing the wheels with no positive results. The inner tie rod end was worn out on pass. side. I had a shop fix it and the bill came t0 $230, $40 of which was the bushing repair kit.

Replace or turn the front brake rotors, and replace the brake pads. Also have the front end aligned. This is the most likely problem. When you have the brake pads replaced, tell them to make sure the caliper bolt bushings are in good shape, and are lube. This will cause uneven wear and rubbing of the rotor when brakes are not applied. If I can help, let me know.

Your brake rotor need to rotate by a machinist.replaced it if needed or worn past max. wear.usually 50 -60 mph does this.

My right front wheel shakes when I press the brakes on my 2004 Chrysler 300m Special and i just replaced the right front wheel

Have it rebalanced to check for bent rim or wheel imbalance, but check bolts and shimmy by grabbing the wheel on two sides and shake it to make sure a tierod, wheel bearing or other problem as well.

When I apply my brakes it shimmy's real bad.

if the vibration only happens when you apply the brakes then you probably have warped rotors that need replacing. however if some front end components are in very bad condition it can also cause this type of condition as the front end will vibrate due to the excess play in the components.

What causes brake shimmy C2500 1991 5.7L?

Brake shimmy is due to hot spots on the rotor or drum the metal is actually hardened in the spots causing friction differences when the brakes are applied causing front end to shimmy . If you have your rotors turned the hot spots are still present so I have always justr replaced rotors pads all at once shimmy gone .

Notice slight shimmy between 30 and 45... Severl tires slightly low. Put air in tires and now shimmy is worse. Again at speeds of 30 to 45 while acceleration or slowing down.

Hi,
Could be tires need balanced. If they were run low on air, they could be worn and need replaced.

Also, front end suspension may need replaced: Struts/shocks, tie rods, ball joints, bushings. A shop can ID these parts to fix.

Steering wheel shimmys at speeds 35 and up just changed rotors and pads no play in new wheel bearings doesnt shimmy when i brake though. any help would help greatly thanks

If it shimmies with the brakes applied, it's a rotor problem....but like you say, it shimmies just at a certain speed with no brakes applied, check tires for out-of-roundness. If they look ok, you are looking at a balance problem with the tires.

2003 300M hesitates or stutter stops when applying the brakes whats wrong?

If it has struts you might need to replace the front ones, if not then you might look into having your front end looked at, if all else fails get new front brakes and have the front end greased and new shockes aswell as have someone check the tie rod ends and check your steering wheel for any play when turning to the left or right if so then you need new tie rod ends .

if you are getting a shimmy in the wheel this is a good indication that your front brake rotors are warped and upon replacement the lug nuts should be torqued to 100 ft lbs or they might warp again, also the rear brakes should be checked for correct operation to make sure all the stopping force is not left for the front brakes to handle all by themselves, hope this helps

The shimmy is mostly likely being caused by one of two things either your alignment is out or one of your tires is bubbling or warped take it to Les Schwab and ask them to check it. I had the same probelm years ago when I had my Civic, for example I had driven on snow chains on bare ground for one too many miles and caused channels to form in the shape of my chains on the tire which caused a biggggggg shimmy. Live and learn I was only 16.
