Question about 2001 Volkswagen Passat

I feel a slight thud in the steering and hear a light thud when I turn a corner; seems to happen most when the car has just started driving; is this an issue of power steering fluids, something in the rack and pinion, or????

Check your rack and pinion bushing, when bushing wears it also can make that sound. Motor mount also does the same when the center rubber bushing wears, when taking off or taking corners. worn front shocks/struts will also make a bad sound, but as much as the thud sounds. power steering will either quiet completely and some will make a horrible grinding and sqreeching noise half of the time before it go bad. dobt is your power steering, check both side power steering bushing fist.

This is most likely the steering knuckle or tie rod end that needs grease or most likley replacement. If your hear clunk when turning, then it is proabably the tie rod ends. If clunks while driving, then it may be the balljoints.

Vibration coming from front axle when coming to a stop it gets worse, brakes are good , maybe cv joint?

if you feel the pulsation in brake pedal when stopping. its a warped brake rotor thats causing it. for bad cv joint symtoms--- Unusual noises when making turns. As you are driving on the road and you make a turn at the corner, if you start hearing unusual sounds coming from under the car then this is one of the symptoms of a bad CV joint. These noises will sound like something is clicking beneath the car every time you turn the steering wheel. Evidence of a damaged boot. Steering wheel feels heavier. The steering wheel will start to feel tighter and heavier and you can hardly make simple turns to the left or right. In severe cases you might even feel heavy vibrations like you are driving down a rocky road.

Can steering while car is stationary in drive cause any sort of damage to a car. I was messing around with my car one day and turned the steering all the way left and all the way right about 15-20 times....

ur wheel turning did nothing more than put a little rubber stamp where the wheels were u may be thinking to hard that u did something to the car and everything u hear or feel with the car feels or sounds more sensitive but the sputtering i would have dealer recheck and keep the findings in case it ever pops up again

no the wheel turning exersize did not do any damage, when u go back 2 the dealer tell them u would like 2 take them 4 a ride so that u can duplicate the trouble for them sometimes this is the only way 2 identify a problem that only occures with you driving

Problems with accelrating and decelerating and costing on 2009CRV

Hello there, First I would like to mention that turning your wheel had absoulutly nothing to do with the problems you are experiencing don't beat your self up over it. To me it sure does sound like you have some thing going on. You might want to take it to a reptutable reapir shop that you can trust to get a second opinion, not pointing fingers but sometimes warranty work is not the favorite thing some dealerships like to do.

I think you do need to address this before something may happen because the noises and symptoms you are describing are not normal.

Good luck and I hope this helps. Allen

Possible steering issues

this sounds like a suspension problem and not the steering. check the stabilizer bar end links, the rubber grommets on the links could be worn or one of the links could be broken. another thing to check would be the front strut upper mounts, they can make a creaking sound on turns when the mount bearing wears out.
