02 bravada no crank no start

LOL my bravada does the same exact thing, been chasing the problem for over 2 years now. Been in and out of several shops. naturally never happens at the shop, just at the most inconvient time possible. I thought I had it narrowed down to the ignition switch or the neutral safety switch, but it does not appear to be either. I have jiggled the key in the ignition to no avail, does not crank. I have taken the shifter through the ranges and back to park to no avail. I do not get a fault code, all that happens is that you turn the key and the only lights on, on the dash are the check engine which is always on until the car starts, and the seatbelt lamps. Its all normal indications except the starter does not turn. and the starter has been checked out, everythings normal with the starter so Ive been told several times by different shops. All the connections from the battery are tight. no corrosion. tight connections on the starter. no fuses blown. i'm at a loss. I am however, just to start somewhere having the ignition switch replaced tomorrow. from there i guess it will then be the starter and the neutral safety switch. not sure what else to do. no one seems to have a deffinite "fix" ive scoured the internet. checked all the trailblazer, bravada, and envoy sites. everyone has different fixes, but all have the same conclusion. GM SUCKS

If you have a chipped key, one that transmits a signal in order to start the car, the signal may be low and will do the exact same thing. Try using another key for the car for a while and see if it does it again. You can have the key taken care of at any locksmith.

Yes they do,have you checked for the starter relay or for a security system? does it have one? listen to when you turn the key for a clicking sound from the electrical fuse box in the engine bay

Try this from an old dinasaur, buy in the commercial vehicle motor factor an old style heater glow plug push button type switch, now some .08 mm cable ,heavy stuff .Then pick up feed from one of the heavy fuses near battery ,run through bulkhead top switch which you mount on dash somewhere then to the small terminal on the starter for the solonoid, split wire in with existing wire so when it refuses to go push the switch .Most lkikely cause is the contacts in the back of the ignition switch but it could have a relay between the ignition switch and the starter thats playing up as well with dodgy burnt contacts in the relay.Anyway my bodge is guarenteed to work . And i love vauxhal (GM)

1988 2.5E s10 no fuel

you mean, cranks ok, but will not start and no fuel , right>?
s10 no fuel. 1988 ( S10 blazer )
please do say , what that means.
1: car cranks and will not start. so must be out of fuel?
(over 50 causes, or better is 10 or less tests (ask)
2: same, and fuel pressure is 0 psi (spec.9-13). gauged.?
3: fuel dribble test?
4: sparks good so tired test fuel and it ran on test fuel ok? proving
loss of fueling>?
5: injector dead cranking, (eyeballs)

which was it?

1988 cars in the USA are BIG TIME TRANSITION year.
we went from CARBS to EFI.
2.5L (what is E)?
gear cam, roller HLA lifters.
your car, USA , is TBI engine,
TBI started on THIS car in 1985 (1/2 and 1/2)
Throttle body injection
an on all TBI engines, one can see it inject with eyes.
does it?
if not it can be the following things.
1: no fuel pressure, 9-13pis.
2: ECU is cutting fuel. Pressure good cranking.
2a: ECU is sending error for bad crank/cam sensors, and cuts fuel.
2b: ECU sees rpm or tacho line dead.
2c. ECU sees TPS sensor output as 4v or more cranking, this cuts all fuel.
3: if ECU is happy, it sends 12vcd to the pump, cranking.
all tests must be dont cranking or chase tail.

The compressor died on my 02 Bravada and I have a leak in one of the air bags/springs. I was thinking of buying two new air springs and just bypassing the compressor till I replace it. I was thinking I...

I shared the exact issue this past summer with my 02 Bravada. For about 26 dollars you can put a valve stem on both airlines and bypass the expensive dead compressor. This fixed the problem for about a month until one airbag began to leak faster than the other and the truck always seemed to sit unlevel. Today I purchased 2 used coil springs from a junkyard for 65 dollars and replaced the airbags in less than an hour without any special tools. The truck sits up well and level and I'm glad to be rid of all problems that go along with having air suspension. GM used the same coil springs on the Envoy, Trail Blazer and Buick Reiner.

WHEN I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT WHILE BACKING IN OR PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, THE BRAVADA 2002 DOESN'T SEEM TO WANT TO MOVE, AND AS I GIVE IT MORE GAS IT GRINDS WHILE TRYING TO...

There are two possible causes - both of which happened to me. First, the fluid that is in the transfer case from the factory is not adequate and the transfer case will bind causing the differential action on the front wheels to malfunction. There is a new fluid called something like "Royal Purple" (I don't remember the exact name) that needs to be put in. If you have the dealer do it, the cost is well north of $100. The fluid is expensive (like $15/qt) but it only takes a couple of quarts as I recall and there is a web site that shows how to replace the fluid (it is not terribly difficult for those that know their way around drain plugs, etc).

The other possibility is a mechanical problem in the transfer case itself. It is a very complicated device and on mine a snap ring broke and part of the ring caused and electrical motor inside to short out and burn up. Because GM used too cheap of a snap ring (5 cents instead of the better 10 cent one), it cost me over $1,000 to fix it. Just hope that is not your problem.

1999 olds bravada cranks but won't start

There are a few things to check.
1) When you turn the key to the run position (not start) do you here the fuel pump humming for 2 to 5 seconds?

2) When you remove a spark plug wire and crank the engine over, do you get spark snapping from that plug wire. (Use a screw driver in the end of the spark plug wire and hold close to engine block, 1/4 inch, have someone try to start the engine)

This last one you will only have to do if the first two check OK. If you do not have a "noid" light, you will have to borrow or purchase one.

3) Disconnect the injector harness from one of the injectors and install a "noid" light. Crank the engine over, do you get a pulse.

Let me know what you find before you spend any money.
Regards,

Can anyone help with an intermittent starting issue with a '98 mercury mountaineer?

If the motor turns over, but not start. Have the "crank shaft sensor" checked/replaced Ford part# 184768 $27.98 parts $230.00 labor). I chased this problem for several years. The crank sensor finally failed completely and the mechanic was able to find the problem.
Good luck
