99 Expedition has an electronic shifter on the tranny, so only way i know is take it to a tranny shop, sorry, call junk yards and see what the cost is for the electronic shifter but thinks they wont sell seperate from tranny. good luck, probably a dealer part which is Too Fllipping much for anyuthing from Dealers they are a total rip off shop! True story

The shift cable is probably broken from the shifter to transmission.

As long as your vehicle is not parked on a slope, resetting the TCM may solve the problem. To reset, remove the negative battery terminal for a minute or so then re-fit it. This reset may fix the problem if the TCM was affected by your efforts replacing the switch.

Why wont my car crank in park? But will ini neutral?
The trans-axle probably has two safety switches - one for neutral and one for park. The switch that senses the shifter's park position may have failed or a connector has come loose. These switches are usually accessible from outside the trans-axle or transmission, and are not terribly expensive to replace or service. Since the vehicle starts in neutral I would just live with it for the time being.

My 2008 Chevy impala will not come out of park
The
shifter needs to be inspected. Its quite possible that The
shifter assembly is got misaligned, it has to be open and realign.







There
are many other possibilities. But if it was working right up till now and
suddenly this shifting problem occurred then its shifter
assembly alignment issue.

Get help, have helper hold set parking brake and hold foot brake, pop shift cable off of linkage bracket on trans, try to shift it by hand. Only starting in N may be broken internals on neutral safety switch.
