03 chev cavalier yesterday the car wouldn't even turn over. Today nothing happened on the first crank then started on the 2nd crank no problem. later turned over not a problem at all. Any ideas??

Next time it doesn't start, move the shift lever to NEUTRAL. Then try to start. If it cranks in neutral, that would be a sign of a misadjusted cable or bad transmission park/neutral switch. Could also be a bad ign switch or other issues. If the shifter doesn't help checking for power at the starter when turning the key to start. If no power, work backwards to the IGN switch

Geo wont start after running dry

Hello, I would replace the fuel filter. Sometimes the sediment gets sucked up by the fuel pump when run out of gas and clogs the fuel filter. Good luck.

I have a 2004 Chevy trailblazer no start no crank but if I put key on hot wire the starter it will start I replace new ignition switch and new starter relay b

Before you do any thing check for loose or bad connections. Also check you ground connection to engine. Check Fuses, relay and for a Fusible Link open circuit. Now let me explain what a Fusible Link does. They are short lengths of small gauge wire installed between the Battery and the Ignition Switch, or the Battery and the Fuse Panel. They'll melt and open the circuit before damage occurs in the rest of the circuit. I hope this was helpful you.

I have a 1995 dodge van which wont start due to no spark I have tested right at the coils sec. I do have injector pulse but no pulse at ign coils primary there is power at primary of coil at first we...

A test light connected across the coil primary leads should flash on + off when engine cranks(coil sparks when 12v turned OFF due to collapse of magnetic field). If you get pulsed 12 volts, and no spark from the coil, the coil is bad.If you don't get the pulsed 12 volts, trace back to find out why(the PCM turns the coil ground on and off,12 volts comes from switched IGN source)

My 99 Gmc jimmy will not start. the fuel pump is good the fuel filter is not clogged, i replaced the neutral safety switch, plugged in my code reader no codes, i believe it is the starter or the ignition...

Does it crank or not? If no crank then look at the starter or ignition switch. If crank but no start then look at the ignition system. Check for spark at the plugs and also check the fuel pressure. If there is spark try spraying a little starting fluid into the intake. See if it starts and stays running. If it stays running reply back and I will explain why.

The last couple of week the gages somtime will not work somtime its all of them sometimes its only the speedometor. Now it will not start is a 2008 chevy impala ss

Sounds like a power loss issue than a gauge problem if all are cutting out and especially if you can't start. This could be numerous things but off the top of my head I'd say you either have a short to the computer, computer dying or bad ASD relay but might be called something else on that car, like MFI relay that shuts everything down. Only other things I would relate to this and usually causes stalling is the crank and cam shaft sensors. They don't give a signal car dies and/or car wont start. Does your check engine light come on when you turn the key to ON (not starting)? If it doesn't come on for the 3 seconds then you computer has no power, shorted out or dead.

Truck randomly won't start. No clicking, no nothing. Has a new battery, starter relay, ignition switch, etc. Someone told me to replace the clutch switch/neutral safety switch. I bought a neutral safety...

when it wont start, turn your headlights on, see if they work if they dont, find out why. When it wont start, take a wire from the positive battery terminal and touch it to the small post on the starter solenoid, it should crank. If it now cranks, theres a problem between the ign switch and the starter solenoid.

78 chevy caprice wont crank over, lights work and when i turn the key, the lights dont even dim. i get no response when i turn the key

check the small wire at the starter to make sure that its gettin power when you have the key turned all the way like you were gonna start it. if no power it is probably the ign switch. but i would say that you have a loose wire or broken wire. check all fuses

At times cranks and runs fine other times it will not crank

Hello edspring1...the little key chip you mentioned is the onboard security system for your firebird...GM called it the VAT's possible this could be the cause of the no start conditions, sometimes they will reset if you disconnect the negative battery cable for 30 mins.
I really dont think that is your problem though...under the steering pillar...there is a "slider" type ignition switch...meaning...the terminals slide togather to make contact when the key is turned...these darn things get worn to a point they start arching and eventually wont make contact at all...i replaced one last week on a 95 firebird that had the same problem you are describing now.
i'll post a pic of the slider set in position for a tilt steering and non-tilt column....note the difference.
Good luck...i hope this helps...please rate me a fixya.
