There is a lot of information on this. Instead of typing it all down, which I don't know if there is enough room, I will have you copy and paste this link in your address bar:

It will tell you what all the colors mean and where they lead to..

No power from alternator to battery

Is the battery ignition light coming on when you turn the key on. Wiring for an alternator is quite simple, the 60amp cable (thick wire) is a direct feed to the battery. The thin wire (normally blue) connected to the 'ing' terminal gets a live feed via the battery ignition light. if the bulb has blown or this wire is not connected, the alternator will not charge. If you can, use a 12v 5watt test light connected to the battery, start the engine and touch the 'ing' terminal. this should prove and energies the alternator to start charging.

Calibre thermo fan wiring diagram

never ever wire to the ignition or other EFI parts
no car model stated, no year, and no engine option type, size etc.
A SUZUK, something...
the cooling fan wires to ground and power via a thermostatic switch
best is to wire it to IGN1, feed at the ignition key .
using an inline fuse.rated for you r fan draw.
if you trust that new switch (id not) some wire it to the battery
but if it sticks on , it will drain the battery.

post car spec. what car, so i can tell you exact wire location.

Mg metro alternator

Only needs two wires, run a 40 amp cable from the large terminal on the alternator marked +, direct to the positive terminal on the battery or to the battery supply feed to the starter (which ever is easier). Then run a wire from the terminal marked 'ind' to a 5watt bulb, other side of the bulb needs to be wired to an ignition live feed. That's makes it the charge indication light. You need to fit this light, without it the alternator will not charge!!!! Light will come on when you switch the ignition on, and go out when the engine is started. Put a volt meter across the battery, should get a reading of 13.5 to 14.5 volts with engine running. Good Luck.

How to wire ammeter guage in 88 GMC

main ignition feed to the ignition switch + live , well the other one thats live with ignition on cut cable and run the two ends to amp meter ,this will show discharges but to show charge as well then on the positive battery terminal will be a big thick heavy cable to the starter motor and a smaller feed wire which feeds the vehicle its this one you want as this will show charge as well ,disconnect the wire and loop through amp meter with some thickish cable not lighting circuit wire

Something in my engine clicks on and off when my trunk is open and my dash lights flicker on and off in my 2001 430 CLK

Yes i have had this before its because you have connected the wires wrong and used the feed for the lights ,cannot tell you the colours as i cannot remember and iam colour blind but this is whats wrong your 12v switchable feed what you think is the feed from the ignition is actually your illumination feed for the radio ,if in doubt run a new wire from the ignition switch direct to teh radiop this will cure it i promise ,Sorry i cannot tell, you what wire is what but when the reds and greens all look the same ?? you understand my plight but this is your problem i do know for sure as done two motors like this in the last few years .

No spark in engine

Replace the coil wire. If thats not it? Is the coil wet? if it is? Its bad. Ignition module might be bad.
Make sure your getting power to the positive side of the coil when you turn the key on. Use a test light to ground from battery and probe to positive ignition wire going to the coil. The test light should go on when the key is on. If it does light? Your problem has nothing to do with anything inside the vehicle. Make sure all grounds are clean and tight in the engine compartment. if you have no response from the positive side or the coil ignition wire? Jump a wire with alligator clips one side to the positive on battery and the other on the positive side of the coil. Then try starting it. If it starts now? You have a broken wire some where between the coil and the ignition switch. I have had to replace a whole steering column because of this and it worked. but do all the cheaper stuff i had listed above .
Thanks i hope i helped with diagnosing with you.
Please leave me a good comment or feed back on here.
Thanks

Ignition on no power of any kind battery charged ignition ok, could it be battery cables

yes it can be connections,at the battery ,but it also can be a feed wire to the ignition switch,or a open ground on engine and battery ground,or negative cable. Do you have interior lites with doors open? Are some of the fuses hot on the fuse panel,or all dead!

I just finished rebuilding my truck engine and will like to test it before installing back in the truck. I know how to get the starter going, but I don't know how to wire the coil, distributor, alternator...

To start the engine you need a+ feed from the battery to the + side of the coil[this acts as an ignition live,to be disconnected when not testing the engine ]Next you need a heavy + feed directly from the starter to the battery[use good heavy cable]Also a good heavy earth lead from the battery negative to the engine block[jump leads work great]Connect the distributor contact breaker wire to the coil - side.To start take a live+ wire from the starter + to the "pull in" terminal of the starter[this is a male spade connector and the lightest terminal on the solenoid.when you connect the starter to the battery + the engine should turn over,Check for a spark using an old plug earthed to the block, add some fuel and listen to that baby run.
