I have changed and cleaned radiator, replaced the thermostat. Where can I find the HEAT SENSOR? where is it located. Also how would I know if the teperature gage in the dashboard is good or needs testing how would I find out how to test this object.

IF you want to keep the car go to www.theamcforum.com, join, and post your question there. BE SPECIFIC. Just "running hot" isn't enough. What is hte history of the car? What have you done to try to fix the problem?

The temperature sensor has nothing to do with the overheat unless this car has electric engine cooling fans, does it, don't know AMC cars much, I worked in an AMC dealer in the late 70's and early 80's but we olny sold maybe 5 of this model and never worked on one, sorry.

Not Overheating, Smells like really hot antifreeze after I drive, a/c ok heater heats but when stopped air gets cold...stummped..thermostat?, Leak?

check your hoses and make sure its not getting low because when it gets low the hoses can get hot enough to expand and spit out antifreeze without overheating

It keeps runing hot

if its overheating, mostlikely its one of a few things. A.) Thermostat needs to be replaced as it can no longer sense the temperature of the engine. B.) check to see if the auxillary fan is working correctly, if its not replace the fan if its elecrtical or the relay.

Car is running hot after thermostat replacement; also recently replaced radiator

If the car is still running hot after replacing the thermostat, then there are a few issues that you need to check. Is all the air bled out of the cooling system? Do you have a leak somewhere? Is the top hose and bottom hose both getting hot? Is the temp sensor working correctly (meaning the sensor says that your car is in the red, but really your car is not overheating at all). Is the cooling fan turning on? It has to be one of those that is causing the issue with the car overheating. Most of the time, its due to not bleeding the air out of the system, or the water pump not functioning correctly.

We just got our A/C system (2000 Chrysler 300) recharged with Freon and at that time it was discovered the A/C belt was gone, so that was replaced. Everything seemed fine on the short drive home - AC...

Not real likely, but it was HOT outside, correct? has it overheated since? It is likely the thermostat was weak or bad, but this is a June post. Do you need further help?

My honda accord wagon smells hot i stop running car, ther,s no leaks do i need a termostat?

You may have a bad thermostat or a weak water pump or a clogged radiator. Smell does not indicate if its hot. The gauge or coolant light might suggest its getting hot. You may have a fuel control issue that is overheating the catalytic converter which would smell or an oil leak that is dripping onto a hot surface causing a smell. You may have a real small coolant leak that you cant see that could cause this also.
