Question about 2001 Volkswagen Beetle

1 Answer

We have 2001 VW bug automatic with turbo 1.8 liter and the abs light came on and the anti slip regulation light came on but they both went out after a short time . We took it in for a check and now the business is saying that we need a mabs module and they want almost $1000.00 dollars. I have done a little research and asked a friend for his thoughts but need some professional opinion if possible.

Why does abs dashboard light come on an stay on sometimes

ABS stands for Automatic (anti-lock) Braking System. 1) Check your brake fluid. 2) Have brake parts checked for excessive wear.

Abs light sometimes on...sometimes off

The ABS light coming on means that the computer is seeing a problem with the ABS system, which won't set the CEL light, especially since the ABS system has nothing to do with the engine. You need to have someone scan the system for all codes, soft and hard. And then let us know what you find out.

1999 VW Jetta- all dash lights (ABS, Brake, Airbag, Check Engine) went on and then the car died. It restarted when I had a jump but only made it 1 mile before dying again. Is it the alternator?

Sure is, the regulator in the alternator went out. You can test this by starting the car and disconnecting the battery while the engine is running. If the car dies, you have a bad alternator.
