been a tech for 40 years and there is nothing called a fuel sensor, there are TPS, O2, MAF, ECT, CEM, PCM, IAT sensors, and in some models a fuel pressure sensor.

SOURCE: changed fuel filter and put fuel injection cleaner

cleaner might have slagged the spark plugs, or left deposits on the o2 sensor.

Things to try, replace fuel filters, get a can of MAP sensor cleaner and clean your map sensor. Check to see if there are any codes. Get a good fuel injector cleaner and run that through. If its cold, put some good additive in that has a fuel deicer.

My truck is surging at highway speeds gets worse to the point of cutting out some in city driving but idles fine.

I'm not specifically familiar with your truck, but I would check with a dealer to ensure there is no inline filter before taking the part store's word for it. While most vehicles have a pick up filter in the tank for big stuff, I've never seen a car without an inline filter for micro-particulate. The part store you called may simply not carry it, or may carry a desk help person who doesn't know what they're doing (happens all the time). Other possible issues for your surging could be that you have a sticky injector that isn't opening/closing properly, that your automatic trans is acting up (if you have one), or a pressure regulator in the lines (my wife's car also does this because the part that is supposed to hold fuel pressure in the line is bad (as a result it starts hard unless you let the pump "prime" the pressure just before starting) and so it surges just a little with the fuel pump's cycling when driving at freeway speeds. I think you're on the right track with an inline filter though and would try that first.

1995 GEO-PRIZM 1.8L eng.Surges under all driving conditions

If you have a check engine light on you can pull the code and it should tell you if its an o2 sensor or not. I usually replace them when i do a major tune up. Change your spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor (if your car has cap and rotor), oil and filter, tranmission oil and filter, air filter, fuel filter, coolant flush, and o2 sensors. Thats a major tune up. Also spray a little brake cleaner above the engine around the intake and vacuum line and see if the engine reacts to it. If does you have a vacuum leak which may cause you to surge aswell. You may also want to change your iac motor and throttle postion sensor aswell seeing as they have alot to do with idle and acceleration. Without an engine code its hard to tell but those are my basics gor that problem. You can ask a mechanic for a diagnostic then you can fix it yourself if thats what you are trying to do. Hope this helped good luck

I have a problem with my jeep it doesn't start the first time you crank it. If I shut the key off and then try again then it starts after cranking it for a few seconds.

When I had this problem, it was the fuel filter. It is in the tank I think. I just added some fuel injector cleaner several times. If you have an inline filter, change it.

leaky injector/s is flooding motor, mechanically clean or replace. And clean throttle body while you are at it with spray cleaner. Should be almost spotless where large throttle valve opens and closes.

how about the sparkplugs and the wires, you may need to tune it up, sounds like it misfires under a load, i would start with a tuneup and go from there. the other thing that come to mind could be a bad coil pack, or low fuel presusre,if you have the computer scanned and pin point the cylinder or cylinders misfiring you could try switching coil packs or plug wires to see if the misfire move and if it does you would know if its a wire coil or plug, but if its been a while sence you had a tune up i would start with that.

96 Jeep Cherokee RPM Surge While Driving

If the problem began before you changed the plugs that they are likely OK...Some engines "like" certain brand plugs better than others. You may have a weak ignition coil. Poor spark will generally show up at higher rpm's. Spark should be blue and have good "snap" to it and should easily bridge a 1/4" gap or better. If fuel was contaminated, it should show up at lower rpm's as well. System cleaners sometimes work but often are added far too late to do any good. (tank can hold up to a gallon of water without noticing it.) I use 3oz of acetone and one oz marvel oil per 10 gallons of fuel about once a month...cheaper and more effective than most cleaners. (and does not "melt" gaskets and seals as legend has it) The vehicle speed sensor can also give you problems but needs testing to determine if it's got any problems.
It's difficult to diagnose by remote control, but I hope you benefit form something here!

yes it is possible but check fuel .press. and possibly fuel filter if it hasnt been changed. but most likly going to be fuel pump problem.
