One of the fuel injectors is leaking.
It is sending gas out even during the exhaust stroke.

You may be able to "hear" which one it is by using an auto stethoscope ($12) (like a doctor uses) and listen to each one of the injectors.

replace the faulty injector ... or use a can of fuel injector cleaner (name brand, not store brand) ($8).

Any auto parts store (Like AutoZone) will have it.

Hope this helps, soon!

The fluid coming out your exhaust is more than likely not gas it is water the cat will burn the gas up and turn it into water although you can use a stethoscope to listen to the injectors it may not diagnose it properly especially if its stuck open since the solenoid will still work and the pintel will just be stuck or jammed open the best way i have found is to unplug an injector if it runs better then you know that injector is faulty sometimes it will run the same if it runs worse then the injector you unplugged is working properly and you SHOULD replace it not fixing this problem asap will burn up your cat and an oem replacement is about 1000 if your check engine light is on see if you can pull codes if it has a cylinder missfire code you may want to start there first

Gas smell coming from my tail pipes

There are some safeguards which diagnose rich fuel conditions. If you have a hybrid which has a start-stop feature, this may be a reason for the smell.

Have someone check underneath the car for fuel line leaks just in case. If the system is running rich, a warning will appear. Sometimes old gas will make the exhaust smell stronger and if you used the E85 there will be more odor.

2000 navigator system too lean

Too Lean on which Bank of the Motor?

To have a lean O2 Code --you could have a rich fuel
condition & the pcm drove the fuel trim lean

Next you could have a vacuum leak-in the intake or exhaust system

Third you could have a failed O2 Sensor

Front or Upstream Oxygen Sensors get replaced at 100,000 miles

The front sensors are on the exhaust pipe between the motor &
the converter.

Will need a long handled flex head O2 Sensor Wrench

Check engine light, smells like eggs and no power

Your exhaust converters are over heating thus the
sulfur or egg smell

Your car is running to rich, too much gas being used

You have a MIL Lamp ON

Stop using it until resolved or engine & converter
damage may occur

Check for codes & go from there & get back if you like

I have a 2000 Lincoln ls smells like rotten eggs. What could it b?

This is usually caused by the catalytic converter on the front of your exhaust system usually when its new and when you put your foot flat down on the accelerator. If you have this smell constantly, change your usual fuel supplier, or add an additive when you put fuel in it, quality of fuel also has an affect.

WHAT CAUSE MY CAR TO RUN RICH

A number of items may cause your engine to run rich. I'd guess given the year of the car I'd say the O2 (oxygen) sensor has failed. The O2 sensor is mounted in to the exhaust and it will dicate the amount of gasoline within the air/fuel mixture. If the O2 sensor fails the ECU will have the fuel system run rich rather then risk running too lean. Running too lean may cause heat issues and damage valves. Try taking your car to Autozone or such. Many part store will plug your computer in to a hand held reading device; this may show what the issue is.
I hope this may have helped,
Tom
