    "engine cuts out while driving"
On the first occurance the car had been parked for 40 minutes. On return the car would not start although engine turned over. Returning hours later the car started but sounded very rough.
Two weeks after replacement of timing belt, the engine cut-out while driving in traffic at 30mph.
When the car came to stop the engine started without difficulty and returned it to main dealer who can find nothing faulty.

Hi Kobie
If no problem before timing belt I would be suspicious of timing belt repair.
recheck timing marks, If ok make sure cam pulley turns with camshaft and crank pulley turns with crank.
Does the engine cranking sound unusaly faster than normal, if yes possible engine damage occured and engine timing will undoubtably be the cause.
If all ok make sure every thing that was disonnected for that job has been reconnected.
Check all the fuses, check fuel is coming through to engine.
See if any fault codes are in the engine computer. Rectify any faults, or clear all codes.
If fault still exists get a good mechanic to look at it as the checks now get more involved. Good luck

05 mAZDA 6 - ENGINE BEGAN SURGING THEN IT WOULD STALL USUALLY ABOUT 1500 RPMS. mazda dealership said sounded like computer so we brought one and it didn't fix it. It stayed in the shop for 6 weeks and...

first -for it to record a fault the car has to be run for some time --15 minutes or 50 miles because intermittent faults are not always recorded
as an example consider this
on your phone you have a pin number
now if you press the incorrect numbers 2 times nothing happens and you can start again next day
( in the car it is like you pressing the numbers 2 times = no code)
however press the incorrect number 3 or more times , you need a PUK code to get back in
( in the car pressing the wrong number too many times = to a code now being reported)
carefully record when it stalls ( at lights with the foot on the brake), changing down ratios when slowing down) surging on acceleration--rpm reading is critical or deceleration --road speed and engine rpm correlation
fuel level situation when it occurs ( full , partially full or close to empty)
from you statement, I would suggest that you put a can of quality injector cleaner in the tank on filling for a couple of fills as it indicates an injector/s problem and that will not record a code unless a cylinder misfires for a set period of time
it is easier to do the simple things first then have the codes read by an accredited service shop that has experience on your make of car

Volvo V-70 drivetrain & electronics faults

I suspect you have some loose connections or shorts in the wiring harness. I've had similar strange things happen with an Olds Bravada. Various transmission shifting problems, faults, etc. that all seemed to come from the engine's computer system getting incorrect voltages and readings due to wiring faults/shorts.

Engine check light on while driving, already replace new fuel filter with regulator, clear fault using vw diagnosis tool, after driving several days, the fault occured again with the fault code p0441>

Your EVAP purge valve may be faulty. Also, check the vaccum lines attached to the valve for any signs of wear and tear. Should be located next to the coolant tank.

Hi, Purchased a Ford focus estate 1.6 TDCI 2007 six months ago. After two weeks I brought car in for a routine service new tyres, roof bars and a timing belt change and spent 1000 euro at the dealers. ...

pop into local scrap yard and get a crank position sensor, fit it and if it works DAH DAH.. its not always best to fit 2nd hand parts because of reliability. but there no way off testing it because its an intermittent fault. if it cures it buy a brand new one ( or keep 2nd hand one on til that goes )
