You will need to get a repair manual. A Ford Service Manual that can be found on ebay is the absolute best. Your request is too lenthy for this forum.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Is there a line on the transmission of a 92 ford thunderbird that would keep it from shifting

line? not sure what u mean by that , ford trans in a 92 is shifted by fluid pressure , if it wont shift 1-2-3 then its got a fluid flow problem , now if it will go 1-2-3 but wont go 3-2-3 when passing that's done by a vac hose

about the simplest/lowest cost and easy thing to try is to change the trans fluid/filter first !!

Sounds like more of a fuel problem to me.Check fuel pressure 35-40psi and or change fuel pump. Any was the car is equip with a TFI module which controls gas, spark and timing. Located in one or two areas.
First spot is in the front of the car next to radiator passenger side. It will be gray in color about 3" long bolted in a heat dispactor. Spot 2 Drviers side of fire wall next to the master cylnder.
