If the heater core is broken it will leak coolant.have the cooling system pressure tested to pinpoint the leak, but if you know the core is broken it will need to be replaced.

can you give the code?

Engine light on during ignition

Any car produce after 1996 can be scan with an OBDII reader.

Check the date code on the battery to rule out old battery.
All battery has a service life of 48 or more month.

Also check the belt tension. When the 2 arrow / dot meet the it is worn.

A worn tensioner will not create enough frication to the alternator pulley.

Last night I saw a light saying check engine could you explain the problem ,that>s all it says it was working fine all of a sudden that just came on also I am seeing water leaking from some where...

The check engine light may be from a low coolant condition. the green fluid inside the car is probably from the heater core that is leaking. so you should check the coolant level and you will have to verify the leak.

Temperature gauge is inaccurate and check engine light comes on but its not over heating and everything else is fine can it be a sensor ? The temperatue gauage didn't read anything for months but now...

Have you checked the antifreeze level lately? Low antifreeze will cause a temp sensor to give false readings. Does your heater work OK, as in does it blow hot air when heater is on? that is another symptom of low antifreeze.

As far as the check engine light coming off and on, I would bet it is the oxygen sensor that might need to be replaced.

My heater is not getting hot my air works perfect but the heater will not get hot

If your "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light is on, you need to have that checked out first.
If not, the next thing you should check is your engine coolant level. (Antifreeze) If the coolant level is low, the engine coolant does not circulate through the heater core and the the heater doesn't work. The coolant level could be low for a number of reasons including a leaky hose, water pump, or head gasket. In any case, if it is found to be low, you need to find out why.
If the coolant level is OK then the thermostat2.gif function needs to be checked to make sure that the engine is reaching operating temperature.
If all of the above checks out OK, then the heater control valve and/or the blend air door in the HVAC housing needs to be checked for proper operation. (NOTE: some cars are not equipped with a heater control valve)

2005 Pontiac G6. The check engine light came on, reset it and now I do not have heat in my car.

Well lets see - resetting the Check Engine light will not, in itself, have anything to do with now not having any heat from your heater.

Why the Check Engine light was on in the first place may have a lot to do with it.

If your engine is low on engine coolant (antifreeze) your heater will not work. Low coolant levels and/or engine overheating will also set fault codes in your computer and turn the Check Engine light on.

NOTE:
It is NEVER good to reset a Check Engine light without properly diagnosing and repairing the reason it was on. At best, it could wreck your catalytic converters, making it extremely expensive to get through an emissions inspection. At worst, it could cost you an engine.
