2000 chrysler cirrus comes up with 7oo code. Tranny won't shift from first gear.

Chrysler/Dodge,transmission computer's lock it into "Limp Mode", when it detects any transmisson problems. It will need scanned at a transmission repair garage Because the scanner diagnostic tool they use looks into transmission functions and errors, much deeper than a all purpose scanner tool. .Possibly an "Input" , "Output" speed sensor" or a bad solinoid pack. ( all 3 are external transmission parts.. These are very common to go bad and much cheaper than a complete, tranny rebuild.. But many rip off, tranny garages tell people that the transmission needs a complete rebuild.($1500. to $1800.) Watch out for this. It is possible that it needs rebuilt, but an honest tranny mechanic will let you know, either way.

Have to manually shift auto transmission up , but shifts itself lower automatically ??

could be vacume assist module in the back of the transmission right above the pan there is a brass colored bell shaped part with a vacume line attached check the vacume hose it could be disconected or hose has a hole in it try that if that doesnt work get a new assist module they are fairly cheap and easy to replace you will loose tranny fluid when you take it out so put a clean drip pan under it so you can put it back in the tranny how you put in new fluid you may ask thru the dipstick housing use a funnel. usually the vacume hose gets disconnected or gets old and breaks so this could solve your shifting problems..

95 dodge dakota having hard time shifting.

Try a tranny service change a place that changes the filter the pan gasket and fluid not some of these quick places that just drain a couple quarts out of the tranny lines and thats it that wont help but a complete tranny service should help.

2004 maxima - transmission stuck w/engine shut off

It sounds like a tork conveter lockup switch, have the transmisson serviced oil and filter changed then and add Lucas transmisson treatment to help smooth out hte shifting pattern and stop the problem if there was drag on the clutches it may have stalled out.
