You can go to the library to get a haynes r mitchel manual or you can go to and purchase a subscription for you unit. It will show break down of column and price and parts numbers. It will also list if this is a recall item that may be covered by ford for free.

Whining constant increases with acceleration

This can be several problems check power steering fluid may be low or it could be a sterring pump bearing going bad or an alternator bearing going bad . I would look at these first

1989 Chevy truck steering shaft moves in and out of firewall

check for loose steering box mounting bolts on the chassis. Check that the top bearing in the steering box is ok as if it is shot the shaft will move up and down rather than push or pull the steering nut in the box.

Clinging winding in steering power steering goes out every now and then could this be a wheel bearing if so can i see a diagram of that

Sounds like your power steering pump is slowly going out. Eventually it will go out all together and you wont have any power steering.

The wheel bearing shouldn't have anything to do with the steering.

If you feel your wheel bearing is shot too, jack up the car, support on a jack stand, and spin the wheel by hand. Listen for any unnormal sound. Grinding, whining, etc.

Power steering pump replaced and now squealing sound. Auto shop says bearing "all of a sudden" went out. I'm disgusted...

The power steering pump comes with a new pulley and bearing. Which bearing is going bad? If it's the PSP they should cover it. Have them pinpoint the bad bearing with a mechanic's stethoscope. Mostly idler pulleys go bad but they need to pinpoint it and not just take a shot at which one is bad. I know it's disgusting but cars are a bad expense and once they are a certain age become a money pit.
Good luck and I hope this helps.

Alternator belt is squaking

Buy a belt lubricant spray. OR change belt if old and worn.cracked, or showing signs of aging.

OR bearings in the alternator are shot.

If it is a serpentine belt (uni-belt), could be bearings in the water pump or power steering pump.
