Its probably the switch that is depressed by the brake peddle. You didnt state what year it is, or the model, so that is the best I could guess with the limited information you posted.

Check the brake switch. This is most likely to be faulty.

Very possible that it's your brake switch. look under your dash on the brake pedal arm and it should be a switch on there. If you press the brake with your hand while your down looking at the switch and you cant hear a click that click is when the switch makes. if you dont hear a click reposition the switch until you can hear it activate then your brake lights should work

My driver side brake light went out but the tale light still works bulb is new

Hi Jimmy.

Most every circuit in a car goes through a fuse. if you look in your owners manual for the particular vehicle you drive, you should find a listing for a fuse for brake light or brake lights. The tail light being OK should not have anything to do with the brake light. They'll be different bulbs, or, at worst, different filaments in the same bulb, and on different fuses. The brake and tail lights are distinct because otherwise, if you had your tail lights on at night, no one could tell you were pressing your brakes.

If you were meaning that the bulb for the brake light in the tail cluster is good, that also will point to a blown fuse. Check there first.

Good Luck

Check in your vehicle fuse box for the side lights fuse if is blown. Most of the vehicles separate the lights with fuses to work.

Neither brake light will come on when I get on brake.Changed the fuse and bulbs already. keyless device only work sometimes. Put new CR2016 batteries in. Please help!!!

suspect a bad brake light switch,on the brake pedal itself.the key need not be on when checking the brake light switch.but requires 2 people.one to insure the brake lights come on,one to push the brake. theres a switch on the brake pedal itself. look above the brake pedal pad that you push to apply the brakes. you will see a plunger that moves in and out, just to supply the current to the brakelights.if the plungers out of sync,it will not work. or it may only be stuck.or simply bad,if it moves and brake lights do not work. if the plunger works on visual inspection, and is plugged up,the switch is suspect to be bad. thank you,for choosing fixya.com!! SIMPLE SOLUTION,CHECK THE BRAKE LIGHT FUSE. IT MAY ONLY BE BLOWN. UNDER THE DASH ON DRIVERS SIDE CLOSEST TO YOUR LEFT FOOT WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. WITH FLASHLIGHT,CHECK FOR BLOWN BRAKE LIGHT FUSE. if this fails, check for blown brakelight bulbs. unlikely that both brake light bulbs blown at once! but not unusall. thank you for choosing fixya.com!!

The odds are the one fuse is blown for the dash and the tail lights. And the wrong bulb may have been put in for the brake light. The brake light is feeding back into the tail light circuit causing the fuse to blown out.

Change out the bulbs with OEM bulbs and replace the blown fuse. That should fix the problem.

Toyo dyna 92 break lights not working , is there a fuse for this or is it hard wired bulbs ,work fine , ?

There is a fuse for the brake lights. Check fuse and replace if blown. If the fuse is not blown, check the bulbs themselves. If the bulbs are good, then the next step is to replace the brake light switch located under steering column attached to brake pedal rod.

Brake light switch, think it should be under the brake pedal. when brakes are applied, the pedal compresses the switch, which makes the brake lights come on.
