Good chance you t-stat is stuck open that will cause the temp gauge to not get all the way to normal operating temp. also e.c.t can cause this problem. good luck hope that helps. to bridge your connector it will not really tell you to much if you take a multi meter and check the green wire and put the other wire to ground you can see the signal voltage less then 6v

How do I remove the driver door panel from a vw Chico citi Golf 2002?

Remove the arm rest and anything attached to door. If mechanical windows you might need special tool to remove window handle. Then carefully pry the panel clips away from the main door to remove panel and have access to innards.

How to replace temperature sensor in vW golf citi 1.4i 2006

I am driving VW Citi golf sport 1.4i,every morning whn is cold my car couldn't start, after many attempts it would and when I try to accelerate it will choke. After buying the temperature sensor my problem was solved. the mechanics advised me to buy petrol filter and petrol gauge regulator and a petrol pump, thanks I didn't buy them. Only a temperature sensor made my car a comfortable drive.

It is likely the coolant is not reaching operating temperature, please verify the engine thermostat is working.

Temperature guage goes to high, but it doesn't appear that the van is overheating (no steam/fluid leaking) Radiator & thermostat were recently replaced. Guage will jump to high when idle, but...

FLUSH RADIATOR, HEATER CORE AND ENGINE BLOCK.ADD 50 / 50 ANTIFREEZE AND WATER ALSO REPLACE RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP.IF TEMPERATURE GAUGE STILL STAY HIGH THE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR COULD BE FAULTY.

The heat guage sometimes work and sometimes not.

bad wiring.... gauges are notorious for being troublesome which is why you see the hot rodders often add non electronic analog meters sticking right out of the air grill between the fron glass and the hood. They don't trust the electronic ones and they don't read out nearly as well as the older style.

Clean contacts can solve your problem. I use a brass toothbrush for this. Some places make a fiberglass pen to clean contacts but even an old toothbrush or some 400 grit sandpaper rolled up can help immensely.

I had the same problem with my 1999 model. Check under the spare wheel, there are 3 or 4 round metal pieces welded on, but 1 wasn't welded property.
