Is P1516 code caused by bad TAC?

YOUR VEC. HAC ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY UNIT SO IT USES VOLTAGE SIGNALS TO CONTROL THROLLTE BLADE IN THE THROTTLE BODY. WHAT I HAVE SEEN ON THE JOB IS A FEW DIFFERENT ISSUES THAT CAN CAUSE THIS PROBLEM. FIRST OFF THERE IS A UPDATE FOR THE PCM TO ADDRESS THOSE CODES, BUT YOU WILL HAVE TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER FOR THAT. SECOND THERE IS ISSUES WITH THE ACTUATOR ON THE THROTTLE BODY BINDING UP AND CAUSING THE CODES. THIRD THERE IS A YELLOW WIRE COMING OFF THE THOTTLE BODY CONNECTOR THAT BREAKS INSIDE INTERNALLY AND CANNOT BE SEEN TO THE NAKED EYE. THE BEST WAY TO TEST THAT IS TO GRAB THE WIRE ABOUT 5 INCHS FROM THE CONNECTOR AND TUG IF IT FEELS SPONGY OR BREAKS THATS YOUR PROBLEM. fOURTH THERE IS A GROUND AT THE BACK OF THE PASS. SIDE HEAD THAT BECOMES LOOSE. WHEN I GET ONE OF THESE VEC.S IN MY SHOP I UPDATE THE PCM REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY UNIT AND CONNECTOR TO IT AND CHECK THE GROUND ON THE BACK OF THE HEAD IF I DON\'T DO ALL OF THIS THAT GD CODE SEEMS TO ALWAYS COME BACK. GOOD LUCK

I HAVE A 1986 NISSAN 720 2WD PICKUP. IT HAS A CARB ON IT , BUT DID IT COME WITH A CARB OR FUEL INJECTION?

Its BOTH, sort of....TBI Throttle Body Injection. If you look into the carb with engine running, you will see the injector spraying fuel onto the butterfly.

first thing to do is clean the throttle body. kia even has a tech bulletin on it and missfire codes along with all sorts of others are caused by a dirty throttle body

Pedal position malfunction

You can change the tps alone. You do not have to change the entire throttle body. It shouldn't be riveted in place, it should have screws or bolts on one side or the other. If it's riveted in place, use a dremmel and grind the rivets off. You can replace rivets with screws on the new unit.

No start.

You have fuel pressure but the TBI could be clogged. You have spark and the engine runs when given gas. I would look into the TBI. Don't believe it's in the timing either.

Good Luck
