Question about 1998 Mazda 626
I have 2 1998 mazda 626s, one is a 4 cyl 5 spd, the other is a 4cyl automatic. The transmission in the 5spd went out 5 months after driving through high water, I bought the automatic in January but we couldn't get the engine in that car to turn over. So, we pulled the motor out of the 5spd mazda and put it in the automatic. Two weeks ago the automatic was stolen and totaled. I bought the salvage title back and thought I could use the 5spd for parts. Now that we're starting to remove the bolts we're noticing the extent of the damage to the frame and engine. I was wondering how hard it would be to pull the transmission out of the automatic and put it in the car that had the manual transmission. What exactly would I have to do, and how expensive would it be? I'm doing most the work myself so it's parts not labor I'm asking about.
If the 5spd engine is still good, you have to buy a manual transmission for that engine.
